Pinehurst, 65 Golf View Lodge

HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what? I stumbled across Pinehurst at 65 Golf View Lodge completely by accident – was looking for somewhere to stay near Jedburgh Abbey and honestly, I’m so glad I did. This place sits right in Lilliardsedge Holiday Park, which might sound a bit odd at first, but hear me out. It’s actually this brilliant little setup where you get all the peace of being tucked away from the main road traffic, but you’re still just a quick walk into Jedburgh proper. The lodge itself is this gorgeous converted space that feels more like staying at a friend’s really well-appointed country house than any standard hotel room I’ve been in.
The whole boutique thing isn’t just marketing speak here – they’ve genuinely thought about every detail. I mean, the beds are ridiculously comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s this lovely view out toward the golf course that’s particularly nice in the early morning when the mist’s still hanging around. What really got me though was how quiet it is at night. You’d think being in a holiday park might mean noise, but it’s actually the opposite – just the occasional sheep bleating from the fields beyond and maybe some gentle chatter from the golf course during the day. The owners clearly know their stuff too; they pointed me toward this fantastic little walk along the Jed Water that I never would’ve found otherwise, and gave me the inside scoop on which pub in town does the best fish and chips (it’s The Spread Eagle, if you’re wondering).
Parking’s dead easy – none of that circling around town centers hoping for a spot – and honestly, the whole experience just feels refreshingly uncomplicated. Check-in was more like catching up with someone who actually cares whether you have a good stay, rather than going through some corporate script. I’ve stayed in plenty of places with official star ratings that felt cold and impersonal, but this spot has that rare quality where everything just works without feeling fussy. The TD8 postcode puts you perfectly positioned for exploring the Borders – you’re close enough to pop into Kelso or Melrose for the day, but far enough from the A68 that you don’t get the road noise. It’s particularly lovely if you’re into walking or cycling; the countryside around here is absolutely gorgeous, especially in late spring when everything’s properly green. Fair warning though – if you’re the type who needs room service and a concierge desk, this probably isn’t your scene. But if you want somewhere that feels authentic and welcoming, where you can actually relax without paying through the nose for unnecessary frills, then honestly, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
