Lake Hume Holiday Park Overview

You know what struck me first about Lake Hume Holiday Park? It’s actually right on the water – and I mean *right* on it, not some “lakefront property” that’s actually three blocks away. The moment you pull down Hore Road (honestly, the GPS might get confused since it’s a quiet residential street), you realize you’ve found something pretty special. The park sits directly on Lake Hume’s shoreline, and from most spots you can see the water stretching out toward the Murray River proper. It’s one of those places where you immediately slow down and take a deeper breath.

The setup here is refreshingly unpretentious – they’ve got everything from powered sites for caravans to cabins that range from basic to surprisingly well-appointed. I mean, some of the newer cabins actually have decent kitchens and air conditioning, which honestly makes a huge difference during those scorching border summers. The facilities are clean without being fancy, and there’s this easy-going vibe that feels authentically Australian rather than trying too hard. What really works is how they’ve managed to keep most sites close enough to the amenities without cramming everyone together – you’re not listening to your neighbor’s TV all night. The boat ramp is right there if you’re into fishing or water sports, and the swimming area has that perfect gradual entry that kids love (though the water can get pretty chilly, even in summer).

Lake Hume itself is the real drawcard here – it’s massive and way less crowded than Lake Eildon or some of the other popular spots. You can actually find quiet coves for kayaking or just floating around without dodging jet skis every five minutes. The fishing is legitimately good too, especially for Murray cod if you know what you’re doing. Staff are the kind of helpful locals who’ll point you toward the best spots without making you feel like a tourist. Sure, it’s not luxury accommodation – the Wi-Fi can be patchy and some of the older cabins show their age – but that’s sort of the point. This is proper lakeside camping with just enough comfort to keep everyone happy. If you’re driving up from Melbourne or down from Sydney, it’s actually a perfect overnight stop that might just turn into a longer stay than you planned.

The best resort villages feature carefully designed properties that harmonize with their natural surroundings, offering guests authentic experiences combined with luxury amenities and exceptional hospitality.

Love the location and how quiet it is.

What could be improved: Had trouble on the 1st night as we didn’t have a fridge working. After the 3rd time it worked.

I love the cabins and the facilities, great family holiday park

What could be improved: Beds are a bit hard, there was lots of wasps. Not the fault of the park at all though

We really enjoyed our stay . We went with family . We had twin 6 year old boys and they loved riding their bikes around the grounds and feeding the farm animals . It was cold so didn’t use the pool . But if it was warmer they would have loved the pool and large water dumping bucket … Could not use the jumping pillow as it wa wet . Would be great if...

Would be great if it had a better water proof cover so it could be used all year round . Tye camp kitchen and big fire bucket under cover was fantastic

Located out of town but on lake frontage, excellent base if you're looking for a water-ski site. Especially popular with young families. Located out of town but on lake frontage, excellent base if you're looking for a water-ski site. Especially popular with young families. Cabins are getting a little on the dated side but have everything you need for a stay and are more than satisfactory.

What could be improved: Grandson was offered a partial refund for a booking mix-up but that turned out easier said than done so far.
