Icicle Village Resort
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Icicle Village Resort, I’ll be honest — it felt like stepping into a postcard. The Bavarian-style buildings scattered across the property blend perfectly with Leavenworth’s quirky German theme, but without feeling forced or touristy. You know what struck me most? The way the mountain backdrop frames everything, especially when there’s snow on the peaks. It’s that kind of setting where you immediately start planning how to extend your stay.
Location & Getting Around
The resort sits right on Highway 2, which sounds less romantic than it is — you’re literally minutes from downtown Leavenworth’s shops and restaurants. I mean, you could walk it if you wanted, though most people drive the short distance. What I loved is that you get the best of both worlds: easy access to all the festival action and beer gardens, but you can actually escape back to your quiet room when the crowds get overwhelming. The Wenatchee River runs nearby, and honestly, falling asleep to that sound is pretty unbeatable.
The Accommodations
This three-star place knows exactly what it is — comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully designed without any pretense. My room had this cozy cabin vibe with wood accents and mountain views that made me want to curl up with a book. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many mountain resorts miss this basic requirement), and there’s enough space to spread out your hiking gear or festival purchases. The bathrooms are nothing fancy, but they’re well-maintained and have good water pressure.
Amenities & Activities
The outdoor pool area became my favorite spot — it’s heated year-round, which feels almost magical when you’re soaking in warm water while snow falls around you in winter. There’s also a hot tub that’s perfect after a day of hiking or skiing, and plenty of parking (trust me, this matters during Oktoberfest when downtown spots are impossible to find). The resort has this laid-back atmosphere where families with kids mix easily with couples on weekend getaways. They’ve got barbecue areas too, which actually get a lot of use since people love grilling while enjoying those mountain views.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Icicle Village Resort isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay comfortable — they’ll give you solid recommendations for hiking trails or the best times to hit downtown attractions. The 8.7 rating makes sense when you experience how everything just flows smoothly here. Whether you’re using this as your base camp for outdoor adventures or just want a peaceful mountain retreat, this place delivers on the promise of a genuine Pacific Northwest experience without breaking the bank.

The only thing that is negative is there are no bedside lamps so you have to turn all the lights off and then find your way to the bed.

Hot water wasn't working. Wifi wasn't working. Expensive for the quality.

The stay was comfortable, clean and the staff was polite. We enjoyed the free breakfast as well. Though it was a little expensive, the amenities made it worth it!

We tried renting free bikes from the resort but noticed that they didn't have brakes and chose to pass.
