Warragul Gardens Holiday Park
Honestly, when I first pulled up to the Warragul Gardens Holiday Park on Burke Street, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s a 3-star place in what’s essentially a country town about 100 kilometers east of Melbourne. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that catch you off guard. The moment I stepped out of the car, there was this immediate sense of space and quiet that you just don’t get in the city. The gardens (and they really do live up to the name) sprawl across the property with these mature eucalyptus trees that actually make you feel like you’re somewhere special, not just another roadside stop.
What really got me was how the locals running the place seemed to genuinely care about the details that matter when you’re traveling. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no corporate script, just real conversation about where to grab decent coffee in town (Beans & Baristas on Queen Street, if you’re wondering) and which walking tracks are worth your time. The cabins themselves are clean and functional without trying to be something they’re not, though I will say the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a holiday park. There’s proper soundproofing too, which matters because you’re close enough to the train line to hear the occasional freight train, but it’s more of a gentle rumble than anything disruptive. Actually, I found it kind of soothing after a few nights.
The thing that keeps drawing people back here – and you can tell from that 9.0 rating that plenty do – is how it manages to feel both restful and connected to what makes this part of Gippsland worth exploring. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Warragul’s main drag, but the property itself feels tucked away from all that. The gardens have these little pockets where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the kookaburras doing their thing, and there’s a barbecue area that actually gets used by families who seem to return year after year. I overheard one couple mentioning they’d been coming for over a decade, which tells you something. It’s the kind of place that works whether you’re using it as a base to explore the Baw Baw ranges or just need a proper break from city life. Plus, parking is never an issue, and the staff know enough about the area to point you toward hidden gems like the Warragul Linear Park walking trail that most visitors completely miss.

The cabin was fabulous. It was exceptionally clean and well presented. As an adult family of 5 we had all the amenities we needed. It was also a very quiet and comfortable area.
