Drumshademuir Caravan & Camping Park
Drumshademuir Caravan & Camping Park Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled into Drumshademuir Caravan & Camping Park, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a simple campsite off the beaten path. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you right away. This four-star site sits quietly in the Angus countryside near Glamis, and there’s something genuinely peaceful about the way it’s tucked into the rolling Scottish landscape. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward — no hunting around for spaces or worrying about fees.
Location & Surroundings
The location here is actually pretty special, and I can see why couples rate it so highly. You’re close enough to Glamis Castle (we’re talking a proper fairy-tale castle here) that you can easily walk over for a visit, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour bus crowds at your campsite. The Angus countryside stretches out around you — it’s that quintessentially Scottish mix of green fields, distant hills, and big skies that makes you want to just sit outside with a cup of tea and watch the world go by. I mean, there’s a reason recent guests consistently rate this spot 8.6 for location.
The Site Experience
What struck me most about staying here was how well-organized everything feels without being overly regimented. The pitches are spacious enough that you’re not practically camping in your neighbor’s lap, and the facilities are clean and well-maintained. It’s clear the owners actually care about creating a pleasant experience rather than just cramming in as many caravans as possible. The whole place has this relaxed, family-run feel that’s become harder to find these days — you know, where people actually remember your name and check if you need anything.
Practical Comforts
For a camping park, the amenities here really deliver on the essentials without any unnecessary fuss. The shower blocks are consistently clean (always my biggest worry at campsites), and there’s proper hot water that doesn’t run out after thirty seconds. The electrical hookups work reliably, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but sometimes is at smaller sites. What I particularly appreciated was how quiet everything stays in the evenings — there are clear guidelines about noise, and people actually follow them, which creates this lovely peaceful atmosphere as the sun sets over the Angus hills.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a place that does the basics exceptionally well while giving you access to some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside. The combination of genuine tranquility, proximity to historic Glamis Castle, and that distinctly Scottish landscape makes this more than just a place to park your caravan for the night. Couples especially seem to appreciate the romantic potential of the setting — imagine waking up to misty Scottish mornings with ancient castle towers visible in the distance. It’s the kind of place where you actually want to spend time at your pitch rather than constantly looking for things to do elsewhere.
The best resort villages feature carefully designed properties that harmonize with their natural surroundings, offering guests authentic experiences combined with luxury amenities and exceptional hospitality.

Pods better equipped than I had anticipated. Nice “glamping” experience with the kids. Plenty space in the pod and comfortable pull out double beds. Great site, well kept and ideal relaxing place to let kids explore safely.

The pod was spotlessly clean, lovely location, nice and quiet (is near a road but didn't find it overly busy) The pod was equipped with everything you could need. Fridge, microwave, kettle. Also had some bonus extras like 2 camp chairs and a camping table which we loved! Lovely small veranda outside the pod which we set up the table and chairs...
