Drumshademuir Caravan & Camping Park

HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first turned off the main road toward Drumshademuir – honestly, the name alone had me wondering if I’d end up in some muddy field with questionable facilities. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away near Glamis (yeah, where the castle is), and there’s something genuinely peaceful about rolling into this park after driving through all those rolling Angus hills. The moment you arrive, you realize the owners actually care about this place – everything’s well-maintained without feeling overly manicured, if that makes sense.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to create distinct areas that don’t feel cramped together. The caravan pitches have proper space between them, and I mean actual privacy, not just the illusion of it. The camping spots are tucked into different sections, so you’re not dealing with generator noise from massive motorhomes when you’re trying to enjoy a quiet morning coffee. The shower blocks are honestly better than some hotels I’ve stayed in – hot water that doesn’t run out after thirty seconds, proper hooks for your clothes, and they’re cleaned regularly (trust me, I’ve stayed at places where this isn’t a given). There’s this lovely walk you can take around the grounds in the evening, and on clear nights – which happen more often than you’d expect in Scotland – the star-gazing is absolutely brilliant since there’s minimal light pollution out here.
The location is actually perfect for exploring this part of Scotland without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere. Glamis Castle is practically on your doorstep, and Dundee’s only about twenty minutes if you need proper shops or restaurants. But honestly, once you’re settled here, you might not want to venture far. The owners clearly know their regulars – I watched them chatting with families who’ve obviously been coming for years, and there’s this lovely community feel during busy periods without being cliquey toward newcomers. My only minor gripe would be that the Wi-Fi can be a bit patchy in some areas of the park, but let’s be real – sometimes that’s exactly what you need on holiday. The whole place just feels authentic, you know? Like it’s run by people who genuinely enjoy what they do rather than just going through the motions.

Pods better equipped than I had anticipated. Nice “glamping” experience with the kids. Plenty space in the pod and comfortable pull out double beds. Great site, well kept and ideal relaxing place to let kids explore safely.

The pod was spotlessly clean, lovely location, nice and quiet (is near a road but didn't find it overly busy) The pod was equipped with everything you could need. Fridge, microwave, kettle. Also had some bonus extras like 2 camp chairs and a camping table which we loved! Lovely small veranda outside the pod which we set up the table and chairs...
