First Impressions
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Yosemite Lakes River Yurt 22, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from staying in a yurt. But this four-star spot on Hardin Flat Road completely changed my perspective on glamping. The circular canvas structure sits perfectly among towering pines, and you can hear the river flowing nearby before you even step out of your car. It’s that kind of place where you immediately feel your shoulders relax — you know what I mean? The location offers a perfect escape from the everyday hustle and bustle.
The Yurt Experience
The room itself is surprisingly spacious, with a real bed, electricity, and even a small heater for those chilly Sierra Nevada nights. I mean, it’s still camping, but it’s camping with actual comfort. The circular layout creates this cozy, almost mystical atmosphere that regular hotel rooms just can’t match. There’s something about the curved walls and the way light filters through the canvas that makes everything feel more intimate and connected to nature. You’ll find basic furnishings that work perfectly for a few nights away from civilization. The thoughtful design transforms a simple structure into a memorable retreat.
Location and Natural Setting
What really sets this place apart is its position along the river — and I’m talking about genuine river access, not just a view. You can literally walk down to the water’s edge in about thirty seconds from your door. The sound of flowing water becomes your constant soundtrack, which beats any white noise machine you’ve ever tried. Being on Hardin Flat Road puts you close enough to Yosemite’s entrance that you’re not driving for hours, but far enough out that you escape the crowds and tourist chaos. The natural surroundings provide an authentic connection to the Sierra Nevada landscape.
Practical Considerations
Now, let’s be real about what you’re getting into here. There’s no private bathroom — you’ll be using shared facilities that are actually quite clean and well-maintained. The kitchenette situation is minimal, so plan accordingly if you’re hoping to cook elaborate meals. Parking is right outside your yurt, which makes unloading gear pretty straightforward. I’d definitely recommend bringing layers since temperatures can swing pretty dramatically, especially if you’re visiting during shoulder seasons. These practical details help you prepare for an authentic glamping adventure.
Why Guests Love It
This place really shines for couples looking to disconnect and reconnect — the location feedback about couples rating it highly makes total sense once you experience it. There’s something romantic about falling asleep to river sounds and waking up surrounded by forest. The recent guests who rated the location so highly weren’t exaggerating; you’re getting genuine wilderness access without sacrificing basic comforts. It’s that sweet spot between roughing it and staying somewhere with actual amenities. Plus, you’ll have stories to tell that your friends who stayed at regular hotels definitely won’t have. The upscale glamping experience creates memories that last far beyond your stay.
Travelers who book resort villages juggle slow beach mornings with long lunches under the palms.

Our second visit to the yurt and would return. Stayed in a river yurt which is a beautiful spot. Useful facilities of a laundry room and local convenience shop.
Maribel
I really loved the location of the yurt on the banks of the river. My other stays had only been in the area of the hills.

It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Peaceful and quiet. Close to park entrance. We really enjoyed being next to the river and having a campfire. Friendly staff. Highly recommend!
