Tencreek Holiday Park

HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what? Tencreek Holiday Park isn’t really a park in the way you’d expect – it’s more like this sprawling collection of lodges and caravans tucked into the hills just outside Looe, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. I mean, the name might throw you off at first, but once you wind down those narrow Cornish lanes to get there, you’ll understand why people keep coming back year after year.
The thing about this place is that it sits in this perfect sweet spot between proper accommodation and that classic British holiday camp vibe – without all the cheesy entertainment that usually comes with it. The lodges themselves are actually pretty decent, way more comfortable than I expected, and you get these glimpses of the sea through the trees if you’re lucky with your positioning. What really got me was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you can actually hear the waves from Looe Bay drifting up the valley, which is something you don’t get in those big seafront hotels where you’re competing with traffic noise all night. The staff seem to genuinely know the area too, not just the usual “there’s a beach down there” sort of directions, but proper local knowledge about which coastal path sections are worth the muddy boots and where to grab the best pasties in town (spoiler: it’s not the obvious tourist spot on the quay).
Getting into Looe itself is dead easy – maybe a ten-minute walk down the hill, fifteen if you’re taking your time and stopping to peer into people’s cottage gardens like I do. The walk back up… well, that’s where you earn your cream tea, let’s put it that way. Parking’s not an issue here, which is honestly a massive relief if you’ve ever tried to navigate Looe’s medieval streets in August with a car full of beach gear. The holiday park has that slightly retro feel that somehow works – it’s not trying to be some fancy spa retreat, and it’s not pretending to be camping either. It just sort of exists in its own category, doing its thing quite well. I’d say it’s particularly good for families who want to be near the action but not right in the thick of it, or for anyone who appreciates having a bit of space around them without sacrificing easy access to one of Cornwall’s prettier fishing villages. The 7.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to win any design awards, but it delivers exactly what it promises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
