The village has that proper English seaside feel without the tacky bits, and honestly, staying at Jenny’s gives you this insider perspective on it all. She knows when the tide’s best for walking, which pub actually does decent food (spoiler: avoid the touristy one near the priory ruins), and how to time your day trips to Mersea Island or Colchester. The 9.7 rating makes complete sense when you realize it’s not trying to be everything to everyone – it’s just doing exactly what it set out to do, really well. If you’re looking for a massive hotel with a spa and room service, this isn’t it. But if you want to feel like you’re staying with someone who genuinely cares about your experience and knows this corner of Essex inside out, well, that’s exactly what you’ll get here.
