Reflections Bonny Hills – Holiday Park
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Reflections Bonny Hills, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star holiday park. But you know what? Sometimes the best places surprise you, and this one absolutely delivered in ways those fancy resorts down the coast never could.
The thing about Bonny Hills is that it’s perfectly positioned between Port Macquarie and Forster – close enough to both that you can hit the big tourist spots, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with crowds every time you want to grab coffee. Ocean Drive runs right along the coast here, and honestly, the views from some of the cabins are better than what you’ll get at places charging twice as much. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from Bonny Hills Beach, which is this gorgeous stretch of sand that somehow stays relatively quiet even during school holidays. The locals surf here in the mornings, and there’s something really authentic about watching them paddle out while you’re having your first coffee of the day.
What really impressed me was how well-maintained everything is – and I’m someone who usually notices when holiday parks cut corners. The amenities block was actually clean (revolutionary concept, I know), the playground equipment looked recently updated, and the camp kitchen had proper ventilation so it doesn’t smell like last night’s fish and chips. The staff genuinely seem to care about the place too, which you can tell from little things like how they keep the gardens looking decent and actually respond when you need something fixed. Parking’s never an issue, which is more than I can say for most coastal spots around here. The only minor thing is that some of the cabins are a bit close together, so if you get stuck next to a family with early-rising toddlers… well, let’s just say the walls aren’t exactly soundproof. But honestly, that’s pretty standard for holiday parks, and the trade-off is worth it for the location and price point.
What sets this place apart is the whole Lake Cathie area – you’ve got the lake on one side for kayaking and fishing (way calmer than the ocean if you’ve got kids), and then proper surf beaches on the other. There’s this little general store about five minutes up the road that does surprisingly good coffee and has all the basics, plus the drive into Port Macquarie is only about fifteen minutes when you want proper restaurants or shopping. The 9.0 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, but what it does, it does really well. Perfect for families who want a proper beach holiday without the resort prices, or couples looking for a quiet base to explore the mid-north coast. Just book early if you’re planning to come during summer holidays – word’s getting out about this gem.
Experience exceptional vacation village resorts that feature spacious villas, recreational facilities, and personalized services designed to create memorable family holidays and romantic getaways.

Best beachfront location with outstanding views. Quiet location with just the sounds of the ocean at night. Cabins have generous spacing between them and the park is quiet and relaxed. All the shops you would immediately need are a short car drive away and 20mins get you to the major centre of Port Macquarie. What could be improved: Roads in the...
