Mandurah Ocean Marina Chalets
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Mandurah Ocean Marina Chalets on The Lido, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that sneak up on you. These chalets sit right where the action is in Mandurah, and I mean *right* there – you can literally hear the rigging on the sailboats clinking in the marina breeze when you open your windows in the morning. The location is actually pretty brilliant if you think about it. You’re walking distance to the foreshore cafés (that little strip gets packed on weekends, fair warning), but tucked back just enough that you’re not dealing with the Friday night crowds stumbling past your door.
The chalets themselves have this sort of unpretentious beach house vibe that works really well. Nothing fancy, but everything you actually need is there – and honestly, the kitchenettes are better equipped than half the apartments I’ve stayed in. I mean, they’ve got proper coffee makers, not those terrible pod things. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, though the walls are a bit thin if you’re unlucky enough to get neighbors who don’t understand that sound travels at 6 AM. What really sold me though was stepping out onto the little deck area – you get these glimpses of the water through the marina, and if you’re there around sunset, well… let’s just say you’ll understand why people retire to this part of Western Australia. The whole setup feels like you’re staying at a friend’s holiday place rather than some sterile hotel room.
Here’s the thing about Mandurah that a lot of visitors don’t realize – it’s got this dual personality. During the week, especially in the cooler months, it’s this peaceful waterside town where you can actually find parking and get a table at the good restaurants without booking three days ahead. But come summer weekends? It transforms into this buzzing holiday destination with families from Perth descending en masse. The chalets handle both moods really well. When it’s quiet, you feel like you’ve discovered this hidden gem. When it’s busy, you’re perfectly positioned to join the action – the dolphin cruise boats leave from literally across the road, and you can walk to the town center in about five minutes. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, there’s decent parking included. Trust me, during crab season when everyone’s heading to the foreshore with their pots and buckets, you’ll appreciate not having to circle the block looking for a spot. The 8.6 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it nails exactly what it sets out to do.

That particular room was great as it had disabled access, maybe leave a Mop in that type of facility to enable guests to Mop up after a shower, we had to use a towel to wipe the floor

Excellent location. Minutes walk to town.
Nice and quiet at night.Easy parking
WiFi didn't work until closer to the reception office, but not really a problem. The chalet was very clean but starting to look a little tired . Would definitely stay again and at a very reasonable price
