Honestly, when I first pulled up to Primrose on Broadway Lane, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – it’s tucked away in South Cerney in a way that feels almost accidental, like you’ve stumbled onto something meant to be a secret. The whole place has this quietly luxurious vibe that’s hard to pin down. I mean, it’s technically a 3-bedroom lodge, but calling it just a “lodge” feels like underselling it. The interiors have that carefully curated boutique feel where everything looks effortlessly expensive without being showy about it. You know what I’m talking about – those thick linens that actually feel good, not just Instagram-worthy, and furniture that’s clearly been chosen by someone who knows the difference between trendy and timeless.

The location is honestly pretty perfect if you’re looking to explore the Cotswolds without dealing with the tourist circus that Broadway or Chipping Campden can become (especially during summer weekends). South Cerney sits right between Cirencester and Swindon, which sounds boring until you realize you’re about ten minutes from some genuinely lovely countryside walks and maybe twenty from Cirencester’s market square – where, by the way, you can actually park without wanting to cry about it. The house itself feels properly private, set back from Broadway Lane enough that you’re not hearing every car that passes, though honestly the traffic here is pretty minimal anyway. I loved that you could actually open the windows at night without worrying about noise, something that’s become depressingly rare.

What really struck me was how the place manages to feel both spacious and cozy – the three bedrooms are genuinely generous (not those cramped doubles you get in so many UK properties), and there’s this lovely lived-in quality to the common areas that makes you want to actually spend time there rather than just passing through. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. I mean, you’re not going to want to eat out every meal when you’re this close to some genuinely good local pubs. The rating sits at 6.7, which honestly feels about right – it’s not trying to be a five-star hotel experience, and that’s actually refreshing. Sometimes you just want somewhere comfortable and well-thought-out without all the fuss and formality that comes with places that take themselves too seriously.
