Discovery Parks – Harrington

Discovery Parks – Harrington Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Discovery Parks Harrington? I was expecting another generic holiday park with cramped sites and dated facilities, but this place actually gets it right. Sitting on Crowdy Road – and yes, you’ll drive past it the first time because it’s tucked back a bit – it feels more like a proper resort than your typical caravan park. The moment you pull in, there’s this sense of space that’s honestly refreshing. They’ve got these well-spaced sites that don’t make you feel like you’re camping in your neighbor’s backyard, which is… well, more than I can say for half the places along this stretch of coast.
The thing about Harrington is that it’s one of those NSW coastal towns that hasn’t been completely overrun yet – you can still find a decent parking spot near the beach without circling for twenty minutes. Discovery Parks sits perfectly positioned for exploring the area; you’re literally five minutes from Harrington Beach, but far enough back that you don’t get the constant stream of day-trippers walking past your site at 6 AM. The facilities here are genuinely well-maintained (I mean, the bathrooms actually smell clean, which is saying something), and they’ve got this great camp kitchen setup where you can actually cook without feeling like you’re in a prison cafeteria. The pool area’s nothing fancy, but it does the job on those sweltering February days when even the ocean feels too warm.
What really sold me on this place was the staff’s local knowledge – the woman at reception pointed us toward this little fishing spot near the Manning River mouth that we never would’ve found otherwise. The park gets busy during school holidays, obviously, but even then it doesn’t feel chaotic. They’ve managed to strike that balance between having enough amenities to keep families happy without turning it into some theme park nightmare. Sure, the Wi-Fi can be patchy in some spots (welcome to rural NSW), and the road noise from Crowdy Road is noticeable if you’re in one of the front sites, but honestly? For a 4-star rating and the price point, you’re getting solid value. It’s the kind of place where you can base yourself for a few days, explore the Taree region, hit up Old Bar for lunch, and actually feel like you’re experiencing this part of the coast properly rather than just ticking boxes on a tourist checklist.

Antonia from Australia (February 6, 2025)
Cabin very comfortable and well equipped. Having an ensuite as well as a general bathroom was fantastic. Also the bar-b-q on the very large deck was a winner What could be improved: The trees which cover the car space of cabin 35, drops dreadful berries that stick to the duco of the car, hundreds of them! we had to park the car in a vacant...

Tony from Australia (January 11, 2025)
What could be improved: Absolutely no wi fi
You'd expect in 2025 that would be an absolute minimum.... this needs to be fixed as my own phone provider had a poor signal on my phone I couldn't even hotspot to devices.
I am not one to give negative reviews But the Wi-Fi thing was definitely a big disappointment
Neibi from Australia (January 9, 2025)
Lovely spot, clean and comfortable. Very busy caravan park but also very quiet at night so we slept well.
What could be improved: The splash bucket was on away for repairs with the manufacturer
Lyndall from Australia (December 5, 2024)
Great location to swim in lagoon. Enjoyed the pool and facilities. Wonderful friendly staff
What could be improved: Cabin 31 could use a upgrade. No blind or curtains in kitchen looked into other cabins so no privacy. Daddy long leg spiders all through cabin in every corner. Cabin was great size but needs update.
Christine from Australia (November 11, 2024)
Location within the park was excellent, away from the main areas - private and peaceful.
Great proximity to the water, beach and township.
