The kitchen actually has proper equipment (not those tiny tourist kettles that take forever), there’s decent Wi-Fi throughout, and – this is important – proper blackout curtains for when you want a lie-in after a night at one of the harbor pubs. Parking’s right there too, which anyone who’s driven around Torquay in summer will appreciate. The whole place just feels like someone who actually travels designed it for other people who actually travel. You know what I mean? Like, there are hooks by the door for wet coats, plenty of plug sockets by the beds, and the shower has proper pressure. Small things, but they matter when you’re trying to relax. I stayed during shoulder season in late September, and it was blissfully quiet – just the sound of waves and the occasional dog walker heading down toward Torre Abbey Sands. I imagine it gets busier in peak summer, but the street’s residential enough that it probably never feels completely overrun. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like staying at a particularly stylish friend’s place rather than a generic rental, this is spot on.
