Honestly, when I first pulled up to this glamping pod on Kingsley Road, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – I mean, you’re literally staying in what looks like a space-age capsule dropped into the Cheshire countryside. But you know what? It actually works. The Lady Heyes site sits just outside Frodsham proper, and while you’re only a few minutes from the M56 (which you’ll barely hear, thankfully), it feels properly tucked away from everything.

The pod itself is surprisingly spacious inside – I was expecting cramped quarters, but there’s enough room to actually move around without bumping into each other constantly. The hot tub is the real star here though, and they’ve positioned it so you’re looking out over rolling fields rather than staring at someone else’s pod. I spent way too much time in that thing, especially in the evenings when the temperature drops and you get that perfect contrast between the warm water and cool air. Fair warning though – the water takes a while to heat up properly, so don’t expect to jump in the moment you arrive. The owners are pretty good about giving you a heads up on timing when you check in.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve thought about the little things that matter when you’re essentially camping (albeit very fancy camping). The shower has proper pressure, there’s decent storage space for your stuff, and the kitchenette actually functions – I managed to cook a full breakfast without wanting to throw anything. The bed is comfortable enough, though light sleepers might want to bring earplugs since you’ll hear every little countryside sound. Parking is right next to your pod, which is brilliant when you’re hauling bags and groceries. If you’re planning to explore, you’re perfectly positioned – Delamere Forest is maybe fifteen minutes away, and Chester’s an easy drive if you want to do the tourist thing for a day. The village of Frodsham itself has a decent pub (The Helter Skelter) and a Co-op for basics, though you’ll want to stock up on anything fancy before you arrive. I’d definitely recommend booking this place during shoulder season if you can – it gets pretty busy in summer, and honestly, autumn evenings in that hot tub with the leaves changing are hard to beat.
