Clyde View Holiday Park

Clyde View Holiday Park Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Clyde View Holiday Park on Beach Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots surprise you the most. This little park sits right there in Batehaven, and I mean *right there* – you can actually hear the water lapping when it’s quiet in the evenings, which is pretty much every evening since this isn’t exactly party central.
The thing about staying here is that you get this perfect slice of Batemans Bay without the tourist circus that happens closer to the main drag. Beach Road runs pretty much parallel to the water, so you’re getting those glimpses of Clyde River through the trees as you walk around. The park itself feels more like someone’s well-maintained backyard than a commercial operation – there’s this lived-in quality that I actually found charming. The cabins (well, some of them anyway) have these little verandas where you can sit with your morning coffee and watch the locals walk their dogs. Speaking of which, bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper because the kookaburras start their comedy routine around dawn, and honestly, it’s either delightful or annoying depending on how much sleep you got.
What really sold me on this place was how the staff actually knew the area. When I asked about good fishing spots, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a brochure – he drew a little map on the back of an envelope showing me where the bream were biting near the bridge. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The facilities are clean without being fancy, parking is easy (which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling eskies and fishing gear), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. I mean, no marble lobby or concierge in a bow tie, but also no hassles or hidden fees. The kitchen in my cabin was basic but functional – you can definitely cook a decent meal if you’re not in the mood to drive into town for dinner. And here’s something I appreciated: the Wi-Fi actually worked, even if it wasn’t lightning fast. Perfect for checking weather forecasts or sending photos to family back home. The whole place has this unhurried vibe that matches Batehaven itself – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, which in a world of over-hyped accommodations, feels pretty refreshing.
