Capital Country Holiday Park
Capital Country Holiday Park Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Capital Country Holiday Park on Bidges Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away in Sutton. But you know what? This spot actually surprised me in all the right ways. It’s about 20 minutes south of Canberra’s city center, which means you’re close enough to hit the museums and Parliament House during the day but far enough out to actually hear birds instead of traffic when you wake up.
The thing about this place is it feels more like staying at someone’s well-organized country property than a typical hotel. I mean, it’s technically a holiday park, so there’s this laid-back vibe that bigger places just can’t pull off. The cabins are clean and honestly better equipped than I expected – decent kitchenettes, comfortable beds, and the kind of practical furnishings that make you think someone actually thought about what travelers need. The staff genuinely seem to know everyone’s names by day two, which is either charming or slightly unnerving depending on how social you’re feeling. Parking is easy (thank god), and check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that corporate rigmarole where they try to upsell you seventeen different packages.
What really won me over was the location’s sweet spot factor. You’re close enough to Canberra that you can be at Questacon or the National Gallery in under half an hour, but Sutton itself has this rural charm that makes you slow down a bit. The surrounding area is proper countryside – rolling hills, the occasional kangaroo sighting if you’re up early enough, and that crisp morning air that reminds you why people move out of the city. I actually ended up spending more time just walking around the property and nearby roads than I planned, which says something. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury by any stretch, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who needs a concierge and room service, this isn’t your place. But if you want somewhere clean, friendly, and genuinely restful that doesn’t cost a fortune, Capital Country Holiday Park hits that mark pretty well.

Not the first time we have stayed at Capital Country Park, but first time in the Bungalows. Great cabin with room for family of four (2 adult children). Beds comfy and clean, cabin neat & tidy. Aircon & fans worked well. Great shower water pressure. A few more powerpoints would be handy.
