BIG4 Traralgon Park Lane Holiday Park
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled into BIG4 Traralgon Park Lane, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like your typical highway holiday park. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s right there on the Princes Highway, which sounds like it’d be noisy as hell, but somehow they’ve managed to create this little bubble where you forget you’re practically roadside. The grounds are way more spacious than you’d expect, with these massive old trees that make the whole place feel established rather than just thrown together.
What really got me was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between proper facilities and not feeling overcrowded. The amenities are genuinely solid – I mean, the pool area alone kept my kids occupied for hours, and the playground equipment actually looks like it gets maintained regularly (you know how some of these places let everything go to rust). The camp kitchen was spotless when we used it, which honestly caught me off guard since communal kitchens can be pretty grim. There’s something refreshing about a place that clearly gives a damn about upkeep. The powered sites are generous too – none of that cramped caravan park nonsense where you’re practically sharing a beer with your neighbors whether you want to or not.
Here’s the thing about Traralgon that most people don’t realize until they’re actually here – it’s not just a stopover town. Sure, plenty of folks use it as a pit stop between Melbourne and the coast, but there’s decent coffee on Commercial Road if you venture into town, and the local IGA is way better stocked than you’d expect for provisions. The park staff seemed to get this too – they had proper local recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist trap suggestions. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no lengthy spiel about seventeen different rules, just friendly and efficient. I did notice it gets pretty busy during school holidays (we were there in January and it was packed), but even then it never felt chaotic. The bathrooms stayed clean, which is honestly my benchmark for whether a place has its act together or not. If you’re heading through Gippsland or need a decent base for exploring the area, this place delivers without any of the usual holiday park headaches.

Cabin was really roomy and great for a family of 4. Nice quiet location had a great sleep.

I thought considering what I payed for 2 nights accommodation the mini golf and rope course could have been included in price. To have to pay extra was really starting to make it unaffordable for a family.

An amazing place to stay with kids for a long weekend. Lots of things to do within the park. The play centre is a fantastic inclusion that the kids loved and the camp kitchen is the best I’ve seen in a park.

The oven in the cabin took a long time to heat up, so we struggled with cooking. The pool is on the small side, too.

Cabin was lovely and new, very clean and comfortable for our family of 4. All the amenities were great. There was so much for the kids to do. They absolutely loved it! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back What could be improved: Only minor, but the carts to hire for 30 minutes wasn’t really implemented. We spent a whole day looking...
