Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to BIG4 Toowoomba Garden City Holiday Park on Eiser Street, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, holiday parks can be hit or miss, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into this really green part of Toowoomba (hence the “Garden City” bit, which makes total sense once you’re there), and there’s something genuinely peaceful about it that you don’t always get with these bigger chain parks.
What really got me was how well they’ve managed to balance being a proper holiday park – with all the family-friendly stuff you’d expect – while still feeling like a place where adults can actually relax. The grounds are honestly beautiful, with these mature trees everywhere that make you forget you’re basically in town. You’re maybe ten minutes from the main CBD, but it feels way more secluded than that. The facilities are solid without being flashy – clean amenities blocks (thank god), decent camp kitchen areas, and the pool area is actually pretty nice. I stayed during a quieter weekday period, so I can’t speak to how hectic it gets during school holidays, but the layout suggests they’ve thought about managing crowds well.
Here’s the thing though – Toowoomba itself is what makes this place worth considering. You’ve got the Carnival of Flowers if you time it right (September-ish), and honestly, even outside of that, the whole city has this lovely elevated feel to it. Being up on the range means the weather’s generally more pleasant than down in Brisbane, especially in summer. From the park, you can easily get to places like Queens Park or even day trip out to the Darling Downs wineries if that’s your thing. The staff seemed to know their stuff about local attractions too, which is always a good sign. My only real gripe was that some of the cabin accommodation looked a bit dated from the outside – though I was camping, so can’t speak to the interiors. The wifi was decent enough for staying connected, parking was never an issue, and check-in was straightforward. For a 4-star holiday park with a 7.8 rating, it delivers what it promises without any nasty surprises.

Everything was just easy. The cabin was spacious, clean, comfy and well apportioned - didn't spend too much time in there but it could have been home for several days What could be improved: The booking was made through a broker, and they didn't pass on all the information. In future I would just deal with the park direct. The reception manager...
