Reflections North Haven – Holiday Park
You know what caught me off guard about Reflections North Haven? The name made me expect some fancy resort, but honestly, it’s more like stumbling onto one of those well-kept secrets that locals don’t really want to share. Right there on The Parade – and if you know North Haven, you’ll know that’s prime real estate overlooking the Hastings River – this holiday park sits pretty much where you’d want to be if you’re serious about actually experiencing the Mid North Coast rather than just posting about it.
The whole setup is refreshingly unpretentious. I mean, it’s got that proper holiday park vibe where families have been coming back for decades, but someone’s clearly put thought into keeping things comfortable without going overboard. The cabins are clean and functional (though don’t expect marble countertops), and honestly, you’re spending most of your time outside anyway. What really sells it is the location – you can literally walk to the boat ramp, which is clutch if you’re into fishing or just want to mess around on the water. The kids were obsessed with the playground area, and there’s enough space that it never felt crowded, even during school holidays when half of Sydney seems to descend on this stretch of coast.
Here’s the thing that really impressed me: the staff actually know the area. Not just the tourist stuff, but where to get the best prawns (hint: not the obvious place), which walking tracks are worth your time, and – this was gold – where to park in town during the summer markets without getting stuck in that nightmare traffic jam on Ocean Drive. The whole place has this relaxed, no-drama energy that’s getting harder to find these days. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, and the WiFi can be a bit sketchy (which my teenagers were not thrilled about), but that 8.1 rating makes perfect sense when you factor in the value and the fact that you’re basically next door to some of the best bits of North Haven without paying resort prices. If you’re looking for a base to explore the area rather than a place to hide from it, this actually hits the sweet spot.

The park is in a wonderful location and so close to the beach! It was very quiet in the park and the people working there were friendly and helpful. My kids loved the putt putt golf and the go carts that were available at the park. We stayed in a cabin which was a little on the small side, next time we might stay in the bigger cabin just for a...
