BIG4 Tasman Holiday Parks – South Mission Beach
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of holiday parks along the Queensland coast, and honestly? BIG4 Tasman at South Mission Beach gets it right in ways that actually matter. The first thing that hits you when you pull up to 122 Kennedy Esplanade is how they’ve managed to keep that relaxed beach town vibe without looking run-down – you know what I mean? Some places try too hard to be fancy, others just give up entirely, but this spot finds that sweet middle ground.
What really sold me was the location. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the beach, and I mean the good part of Mission Beach – not one of those rocky stretches where you can’t actually swim. The Esplanade runs right along the waterfront here, so morning coffee walks become this whole ritual you’ll actually want to do (trust me on this). The staff seemed to genuinely know the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about cassowary spotting – because, come on, you’re in their territory up here – the reception guy didn’t just hand me a generic brochure. He actually told me the best times and specific tracks where I’d have luck, and he was spot on.
The facilities are what you’d expect from a 4-star setup, but it’s the little things that make the difference. The camp kitchen was properly equipped and actually clean at all hours (miracle!), the pool area doesn’t turn into a zoo even during school holidays, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the shower pressure was consistently good. I know, I know, but after a day of beach activities, you notice these things. The Wi-Fi worked fine too, though honestly, you’re here to disconnect anyway. Only minor gripe? The powered sites closest to the road can get a bit noisy when the sugar cane trucks start their runs early morning, but that’s more about picking your spot when you book rather than a real problem with the place itself. Mission Beach still feels like one of those hidden gems before the crowds fully discover it – well, sort of hidden – and this holiday park captures exactly why people fall in love with this stretch of coast.

Absolutely the Best! We absolutely love staying at Tasman Holiday Park – South Mission Beach! It’s our go-to spot for nearly every family vacation. The park is always clean, the facilities are top-notch, and the pool area is perfect—featuring a fun slide and a shady, shallow pool for little ones. Park was across the road from beach with nets for swimming. Pool was really well looked after and gardens had lots of tropical plants. The grounds were kept immaculate. It was just a lovely place to stay.

Took our own breakfast. Kitchen in cabin was good.

Veranda looked straight up a road. A few more trees in front of veranda would make outlook nicer.

The Shack was great value for money. Clean and spacious enough. No shower or toilet but the shared facilities were close by and excellent. The park was very quiet and proximity to the beach was very nice.
The a/c worked well without making a noise and the bed and pillows were really good.
Very happy with my night's stay.
