BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park
So you know how most “holiday parks” sound pretty cheesy? Well, BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park on Siganto Drive actually surprised me. I mean, when you first pull up, it’s this sprawling place that feels more like a proper resort than some cramped caravan park. The location is honestly perfect – you’re far enough from the Surfers Paradise madness to actually sleep at night, but close enough that you can hit the beach or theme parks without planning your whole day around travel time.
What really got me was how they’ve set this place up for basically every type of traveler. There are families with screaming toddlers (in the best way) splashing around the water park area, backpackers hanging out by the camp kitchen swapping stories, and couples in the nicer cabins who clearly just want to chill without the hotel pretense. The facilities are actually impressive – the pools stay clean even with all those kids, and honestly, the jumping pillow thing is addictive even if you’re supposedly an adult. I watched this dad “help” his kids for like an hour, clearly having the time of his life. The mini golf course is surprisingly well-maintained too, though it gets pretty busy around sunset when everyone’s trying to squeeze in a game before dinner.
Here’s what I really appreciated – the staff actually know the area and give decent recommendations. None of that “everything nearby is amazing!” nonsense. They’ll tell you which beaches are less crowded, where to grab groceries without tourist markup, and honestly, their suggestion about hitting Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary early in the morning was spot on. The park itself can get pretty lively (read: noisy) during school holidays – we’re talking kids running around until like 9 PM – but that’s sort of the whole point, right? If you want library quiet, maybe stick to a boutique hotel. But if you want that proper Aussie holiday vibe where your kids make friends within five minutes and you end up chatting with random families over a barbecue, this is your spot. The cabins are clean and actually spacious – I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms, but everything works and the air conditioning is solid. Plus there’s something refreshing about having your own little space with a kitchenette instead of being stuck in some sterile hotel room. The whole place just feels… real, you know? Like people actually go there to have fun rather than just tick boxes on their Instagram feed.

The location was close to Movie World, the room was immaculately clean, the supplied coffee powder a was good one, the pool looked stunning. Well priced. What could be improved: The bed was a bit firm and lumpy. Family noise at all hours; (completely expected, understandable and unavoidable, but listing for those who it might matter to). The...

We stayed in one of the motel rooms, it was lovely, but we thought it would be nice to have an exhaust fan in the bathroom.
