HOTEL OVERVIEW

So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Azka Hotel in Bardakci Cove, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The location is actually pretty interesting because you’re technically in Bodrum but you feel like you’ve escaped all the tourist chaos that hits the main town during summer. Bardakci is this little bay that locals have known about forever, but it’s only recently started getting attention from visitors who want something more low-key than the Bodrum marina scene.

The hotel itself has that polished five-star look – you know, marble everywhere and staff who remember your name after one conversation – but what really got me was how they’ve managed to keep things feeling relaxed despite all the upscale touches. The rooms are solid (mine had this massive balcony that looked straight out over the Aegean), and honestly, the air conditioning actually works, which… well, if you’ve spent any time in Turkey during August, you’ll appreciate that detail. The pool area gets pretty busy around midday, but here’s the thing most people don’t realize – if you head down there around 4 PM, you basically have the place to yourself because everyone’s either napping or getting ready for dinner.

Now, I have to mention the 7.4 rating because it’s actually pretty accurate. This isn’t one of those places where you’re blown away by every single thing, but it’s consistently good at what it does. The breakfast spread is impressive (they make fresh gözleme right in front of you), the beach access is real – not just some rocky area they call a beach – and the staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re having a good time. I mean, the bartender remembered I liked my gin and tonic with extra lime after just two days. The only thing that might throw some people off is that it’s about a 15-minute drive into Bodrum proper, so if you’re planning to hit the bars and restaurants every night, you’ll want to factor in taxi costs or rent a car. But honestly? That distance is part of what makes it special. You get this peaceful vibe during the day, then when you do venture into town, it feels like more of an adventure rather than just stumbling out your hotel door into tourist central. Plus, the sunsets from the hotel’s terrace restaurant are absolutely worth staying in for – the way the light hits the water in that cove around 7 PM is something you’ll actually want to Instagram, and I don’t say that lightly.

A really nice hotel in the end. Once we were moved to our correct room that we had booked and spent one night in a dingy room that we hadn't booked with no balcony and no views... then the stay improved enormously. The buffet was a surprise, and it exceeded our expectations... the mains aren't great, but the starters, salads and deserts are divine...

A really nice hotel in the end. The buffet was a surprise, and it exceeded our expectations... the mains aren't great, but the starters, salads and deserts are divine. Ordering drinks is easy. The wifi is strong. The beach is gorgeous, albeit packed and jammed in and so very tightly packed with sunbed chairs but it's clean crystal clear water and feels safe to leave your belongings whilst you swim. There's plenty of food stations around the hotel and drink bars/stations. The location is really close to Bodrum and there's even a water taxi just down the beach that you can get into town and it's a gorgeous little ride past the castle. The hotel is old, and needs a bit of revamp, but it's clean and it's huge so the staff are running it well and there's enough support of staff around if you need them. The room ( once we got our proper room on the 2nd night) was lovely, comfortable, quiet, with a great balcony and sea views, with a very comfy bed - but the pillows are too fat and there's no sheets - we had to keep asking for sheets for the bed to lay under ( not the mattress sheet, but a sheet to sleep with). The all-inclusive thing is very strange to us ( Australians) and we don't normally do this, but it works and it was good value.

Very nice stay: a good choice food, close to the town so you don't spend a lot of money on taxis. Nice and clean beach. Staff is really nice, especially the girls at the reception.
I was hesitant before coming as other comments mentionned that you have to pay extra for some drinks. However it was not the case for us : we had as many drinks as we liked and we didn't get charged anything extra.

a great and long schedule for breakfast lunch, in between lunch and dinner snacks, dinner and a big variety of local drinks for free. Basically you shouldn't worry you would be hungry or thirsty even if you over slept or skipped some of the meals
