Apple Grove Caravan – Devon Cliffs, Exmouth

HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what? I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Apple Grove Caravan at Devon Cliffs – I mean, the name suggests something pretty casual, right? But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked right into the Devon Cliffs holiday park overlooking Sandy Bay, and while it’s technically a static caravan, whoever’s behind this has turned it into something that feels more like a quirky boutique hideaway. The moment you step inside, you realize this isn’t your typical holiday park accommodation. They’ve actually put thought into every detail, from the surprisingly stylish interior that doesn’t feel cramped at all, to the way they’ve positioned everything to make the most of those sea views. And those views – well, you’re literally looking out over Exmouth’s coastline, which on a clear day stretches all the way toward Torquay.
What really works about this place is the location within Devon Cliffs itself. You’re far enough from the main entertainment complex that you won’t hear the evening shows (trust me, that matters), but close enough that you can wander over if you fancy it. The beach access is brilliant – there’s a path that takes you straight down to the pebbles and sand, though I’d recommend decent shoes because it’s a bit of a scramble in places. Parking’s included right outside, which honestly saves you a headache because finding spots around Exmouth town center in summer can be a nightmare. The caravan itself feels surprisingly spacious, and they’ve managed to fit in a proper kitchen that actually works – I made breakfast every morning and it was perfectly functional. The bedroom’s comfortable enough, though if you’re particularly tall you might find the ceiling a bit low in places, but that’s just the nature of these things.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – it’s the little touches that show someone cares about this place. Fresh towels that actually smell good, a welcome pack with local information (including some gems about the best fish and chips in Exmouth – go to Papa’s, not the touristy spots on the seafront), and the heating system that actually works properly, which matters more than you’d think on those chilly Devon evenings. The shower’s got decent pressure too, which isn’t always a given in holiday accommodation. If you’re thinking about staying here, I’d say book well ahead for summer months because places like this – ones that actually have character rather than just basic holiday park vibes – get snapped up quickly. It’s particularly perfect if you want to explore the South West Coast Path, since you’re literally on it, or if you fancy day trips to places like Sidmouth or Beer without the hassle of staying right in the busy town centers. Fair warning though, it can get a bit windy up there – the clifftop location means you’ll definitely know when the weather’s coming in from the sea.
