Apollo Bay Holiday Park Overview

You know what surprised me about Apollo Bay Holiday Park? It’s actually got this really laid-back vibe that you don’t always get with accommodation right in the heart of a popular coastal town. I mean, you’re literally on Cawood Street – which is basically a stone’s throw from the main beach and those cafes everyone raves about – but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in the middle of a tourist circus.

The setup here is pretty clever, honestly. It’s one of those places that works whether you’ve rolled up in a campervan after driving the Great Ocean Road or you’re just looking for a proper base to explore Apollo Bay without the hotel price tag. The cabins are solid – nothing fancy, but they’ve got that clean, functional thing down pat, and the powered sites are actually spacious enough that you’re not hearing your neighbor’s every conversation. I stayed during Easter weekend (probably not my smartest move timing-wise), and while the town was absolutely packed, the park itself felt surprisingly chill. The facilities are well-maintained too – the amenities blocks are clean, hot water’s reliable, and there’s enough of them that you’re not queuing at peak times.

What I really appreciated was how the staff actually know the area. When I asked about the best time to hit the lighthouse walk, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a brochure – he mentioned that early morning is brilliant because you’ll dodge the tour buses and the light hits those cliffs perfectly for photos. It’s that kind of local insight that makes a difference. The location is honestly hard to beat if you want to experience Apollo Bay properly. You can walk to Marengo Beach in about ten minutes if you want something quieter than the main stretch, or you’re right there for the Saturday morning market. Parking’s included, which might not sound like much until you see what they’re charging in town. The only thing I’d mention is that being this central means you’ll hear a bit of street noise, especially on summer weekends when people are walking back from the pubs – but that’s Apollo Bay for you, and it quiets down pretty early anyway. For a 4-star holiday park with a 7.7 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d expect: good value, decent facilities, and a location that lets you actually enjoy one of Victoria’s best coastal spots without breaking the bank.

Cabin was nice and roomy with all expected appliances.

What could be improved: Car park between cabins was quite tight for a medium-large SUV. There was room, but it felt like a very tight squeeze getting in and out.

The location was fantastic, and everything was impeccably clean and exceptionally comfortable. I would be thrilled to return and experience it all over again in the future!

What could be improved: The internet wasn't working, and I couldn't connect.

Comfortable cabin. Park is in good location close to beach and town. Staff were helpful and friendly. Bed was okay. Kitchen was good.

What could be improved: People were playing music until midnight yet rules said quiet time was after 10. Was very loud.

Very convenient location and helpful and lovely staff! The cabin had all we needed for one night and it was very clean.

What could be improved: It was a little cold during the night, but we were prepared for it judging by the time of the year :)

Rooms were super clean!

What could be improved: Unfortunately the freezer wasn't working and only realised the next morning when our freezer blocks were not frozen, but when we told management they were straight onto it.
