You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Lyons Robin Hood Holiday Park – I mean, it’s Rhyl, and let’s be honest, the town’s had its ups and downs over the years. But this Willerby static on Sycamore Walk actually surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you step inside, it’s clear someone’s put real thought into making this feel like a proper home away from home rather than your typical holiday park accommodation.

The thing that struck me first was how spacious it feels inside – these newer Willerby models are honestly impressive compared to the cramped caravans I remember from childhood holidays. There’s this lovely open-plan living area that actually gets proper natural light (you’d be amazed how many holiday lets seem to forget about windows), and the kitchen’s got everything you’d need if you’re planning to cook rather than rely on the park’s restaurants every night. I particularly loved the little touches – decent coffee mugs instead of those awful plastic ones, proper bedding that doesn’t feel like sandpaper, and honestly, a shower with actual water pressure. The whole place has this contemporary feel without being sterile, sort of like someone’s genuinely nice modern flat rather than a rental property.

What really makes this spot work is the location within the park itself. Sycamore Walk is tucked away from the main drag where all the kids are cycling about at all hours, so you get a bit of peace in the evenings, but you’re still close enough to walk to the entertainment complex without it being a proper hike. And here’s something most people don’t realize about Lyons Robin Hood – it’s actually one of the better-positioned parks along this stretch of coast. You’re literally minutes from Rhyl’s beach (which, despite what some people say, is actually lovely on a decent day), but you’re also perfectly placed for day trips. I mean, you can be in Llandudno in twenty minutes if you fancy something a bit more upmarket, or head the other way toward Prestatyn if you want those proper long sandy stretches. The park itself has that buzzy atmosphere during school holidays – there’s always something happening – but it settles into a really pleasant rhythm during term time when it’s mainly couples and families with younger kids. Parking’s right outside your door, which is brilliant when you’re hauling suitcases and shopping, and the whole setup just works. It’s the kind of place where you can genuinely relax without feeling like you’re compromising on comfort.
