First Impressions
When I first spotted Heron, Sea View, Scratby – California Cliffs, Parkdean, sleeps 6, bed linen and towels included, pet free, onsite entertainment available, I’ll be honest — the name’s a bit of a mouthful, but the location absolutely delivers on its promise. This four-star holiday home sits right on the Norfolk coast in Scratby, and you know what really caught my attention? The unobstructed sea views from what locals call the California Cliffs. It’s not California, obviously, but there’s something about the way the coastline curves here that gives it this unexpectedly dramatic feel.
The Holiday Home
The apartment itself sleeps six comfortably, which makes it perfect for families or couples traveling together — actually, I noticed quite a few couples during my stay, and it makes sense given that rating of 9.6 for location. What I really appreciated was having all the bed linen and towels included; you don’t realize how much of a relief that is until you’re packing for a seaside break. The kitchen is well-equipped enough that you can easily prepare meals, though honestly, with those sea views from the windows, I found myself just standing there with my morning coffee more often than I’d care to admit.
Location and Surroundings
Scratby isn’t one of those overly touristy Norfolk spots, which is part of its charm. The Parkdean resort sits on this stretch of coast where you get proper clifftop views without the crowds you’d find further south. There’s free parking right on site, which — trust me — is worth its weight in gold during peak season. The beach access is straightforward, and I mean, when you wake up to those sea views every morning, it sort of sets the tone for a properly relaxing break.
Resort Amenities
The onsite entertainment is actually pretty decent — not overwhelming, but enough to keep everyone happy if the weather turns. There’s a restaurant on the resort, though I found myself drawn to some of the local pubs in the area for dinner. The whole setup feels more like a proper holiday village than just accommodation, and since it’s pet-free, it maintains this peaceful atmosphere that couples especially seem to love. I get why the location scores so highly with recent guests.
Why Guests Love It
What really works here is the combination of those genuine sea views and the fact that you’re staying somewhere that feels both comfortable and unpretentious. The California Cliffs might sound like marketing speak, but when you’re actually standing there watching the sunrise over the North Sea, it doesn’t matter what they call it. It’s the kind of place where you can properly unwind — no fuss, no pretense, just good honest seaside accommodation with views that’ll have you planning your next visit before you’ve even packed to leave.
Each resort village provides a unique blend of privacy and community, where guests enjoy villa-style accommodations while having access to shared amenities and social experiences.

Sarah
It was very quiet due to being out of season.
Kathryn
The caravan has an amazing view of the sea. Close to the clubhouse, restaurant, swimming pool. Also a side gate which made the local shops and wine bar accessible. The whole site is very clean and all the staff are very friendly and approachable. It was a lovely relaxing brake. There is a bus that takes you along the coastal road from Caister...
