White Star Station Farm Holiday Park
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to White Star Station Farm Holiday Park on Colville Road, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The name suggests something pretty casual, but this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s about ten minutes out from Coromandel Town proper, which means you get that proper countryside feel without being completely cut off from civilization. You know what I mean? Close enough to grab dinner in town, far enough that you’re not hearing traffic at night.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to create something that feels both rustic and refined at the same time. The accommodation – well, they don’t bother with star ratings because honestly, how do you categorize a place like this? It’s got character that you just can’t manufacture. The owners clearly know their stuff when it comes to hospitality, and it shows in those little details that actually matter. Like, the beds are seriously comfortable (I’m talking proper sleep, not that tossing-and-turning nonsense you get at some places), and they’ve thought about things like having enough power outlets and decent water pressure. Basic stuff, sure, but you’d be amazed how many places mess that up.
The setting is pretty spectacular too – you’re surrounded by that classic Coromandel Peninsula landscape, all rolling green hills and native bush. Mornings here are something else, honestly. You wake up to proper birdsong, not the neighbor’s dog or someone’s car alarm. And if you’re into exploring, you’re perfectly positioned for the peninsula’s highlights. Cathedral Cove is maybe 45 minutes away, Hot Water Beach is doable as a day trip, and there are heaps of walking tracks right in the area if you’re into that sort of thing. The drive into Coromandel Town is actually quite lovely – winding country roads with glimpses of the coast. Just take your time on those corners, especially if it’s been raining. The staff were genuinely helpful about local recommendations too, not just the obvious tourist stuff but actual insider tips about where to grab the best fish and chips or which beaches are worth the detour. That 9-point rating they’ve got? Yeah, I can see why. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well.
Travelers can book a resort that perfectly matches their vacation dreams, from beachfront properties to mountain retreats, ensuring every detail is crafted for maximum enjoyment and relaxation.

Could be improved
I would have enjoyed meeting the staff but I understand that they are operating a working farm and therefore are not always available.

Those managing the property did their best to help us. There was a mix-up re the booking but Telic did what she could to sort it - more than she needed to. Most impressed.

There was lots of room for the six adults staying. The house was clean & comfortable & the kitchen well-equipped. The surroundings were lovely.

The picnic table needed a bit of fixing…clothes got caught on nails. Some chairs outside would be a nice addition.

We didn’t have any hot water. Had to boil water to wash dishes.

Friendly hosts on a working farm, very quiet and secluded in the middle of beautiful New Zealand bush with a little stream close by. A rustic stay off the grid.
