Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, and the Turquoise Hotel in Side honestly surprised me – in a good way. When you first pull up (and yes, there’s actually decent parking, which is rare around here), it doesn’t scream luxury from the outside, but that’s kind of the point. This isn’t some flashy resort trying too hard; it’s got this understated elegance that grows on you once you’re inside.

The location is what really sold me, though. You’re in Sorgun, which means you’re close enough to Side’s ancient ruins and that gorgeous harbor area without dealing with the constant tour bus chaos. I mean, you can walk to the main archaeological sites in about fifteen minutes if you’re feeling ambitious, but honestly? Most mornings I just grabbed coffee and headed straight to their beach section. The sand here is that perfect golden color you see in postcards, and the water – well, they didn’t name it the Turquoise Coast for nothing. What I loved most was how the hotel’s beach area never felt overcrowded, even during peak summer weeks. They’ve got enough space spread out that you’re not listening to someone’s music or kids screaming right next to you.

The rooms are solid – nothing revolutionary, but everything works and the air conditioning actually keeps up with July heat, which is more than I can say for some five-star places I’ve been to. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, too. When I had an issue with my bathroom door sticking (minor thing, but annoying), they had someone up there within an hour, no runaround or attitude. Food-wise, you know what? The breakfast spread is extensive without being overwhelming, and their dinner buffet actually changes up the menu throughout the week. I particularly remember this Turkish night they did – proper regional dishes, not just tourist-friendly versions. The poolside bar makes a decent gin and tonic, though they’re a bit heavy-handed with the ice if you don’t specify.

Here’s the thing about this place – it’s not going to blow your mind with over-the-top luxury, but it gets the fundamentals right. The 8.3 rating feels about right to me; it’s a solid, well-run hotel where you can actually relax without constantly finding things to complain about. If you’re someone who needs to be in the heart of Side’s nightlife scene, this might feel a bit removed, but for most people, that’s actually a selling point. You get the best of both worlds – easy access to the historical sites and restaurants when you want them, but you can come back to somewhere peaceful at the end of the day.
