Toora Tourist Park
You know what surprised me about Toora Tourist Park? It’s actually one of those places that gets better the longer you stay. I mean, driving up Welshpool Road, you’re not expecting much – it’s pretty quiet around there, just rolling green hills and the occasional farm gate. But then you pull into this spot and realize they’ve got something special going on.
The thing about Toora is that it sits right in this sweet spot between the coast and the countryside. You’re literally ten minutes from some gorgeous beaches that most tourists completely miss because they’re all rushing to Wilson’s Prom. The park itself has this relaxed, almost sleepy vibe during the day, but come evening when families are firing up their barbecues and kids are running around the playground, it comes alive in this really authentic way. The facilities are honestly better than you’d expect – everything’s clean and well-maintained, which isn’t always a given at tourist parks. I was particularly impressed with how quiet it gets at night; you can actually hear the waves in the distance when the wind’s right.
What really won me over though was how the staff just… get it. They know you might need extra tent pegs because of the coastal wind, they’ll tell you which beach has the best rock pools for kids, and they’re not trying to upsell you on anything. The whole setup feels unpretentious – there’s a good mix of cabins, powered sites, and spots for tents, so you get this nice cross-section of travelers without any of that resort stuffiness. Parking’s never an issue, which is refreshing, and check-in was surprisingly smooth even though we rolled up during what was clearly a busy weekend. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the wi-fi can be a bit patchy in some of the cabins – not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing if you’re planning to work remotely. Honestly though, being slightly disconnected felt like part of the charm. When you wake up here, especially in the cooler months, there’s this crisp morning air that just makes you want to grab a coffee and plan your day around whatever the weather’s doing.

It was really good (3 bedroom cabin) for 3 adults and one kid.
Clean enough for camping. Good comfy beds. You can buy ice-cream and cold drinks at the reception.
There is a really good pizza shop in Toora, highly recommended.

The location was perfect for our needs. We did a whale watching cruise that departed from about a 15min drive away. It is quite a drive into Wilson's prom though so depends on what you are looking for.
