the fishing boat

the fishing boat Overview
You know what’s funny about The Fishing Boat? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – this place literally feels like someone took a really well-appointed yacht and decided to make it into a hotel. I mean, it’s not on the water (though you’re close enough to smell the salt air), but there’s something about the compact, thoughtful design that screams nautical without being cheesy about it.
Port Seton isn’t exactly Edinburgh city center – you’re about 20 minutes east along the coast – but honestly, that’s half the appeal. Links Road runs parallel to the shoreline, and The Fishing Boat sits right in this sweet spot where you can walk to the harbor in about three minutes but still feel like you’ve escaped the tourist madness. The building itself is this converted… well, I’m not entirely sure what it used to be, but it’s got character. Thick stone walls, low ceilings in some spots, and these little nooks and crannies that make each room feel completely different. There’s no official star rating because, frankly, it doesn’t fit into any of those neat little categories – it’s more like staying at a really stylish friend’s place who happens to have impeccable taste and a thing for maritime history.
The rooms are surprisingly spacious for what looks like a compact building from the outside, and whoever designed them actually thought about how real people travel. Plenty of outlets near the bed, decent water pressure (always a gamble in older Scottish buildings), and these little details like proper bedside lighting and hooks for wet jackets – because let’s be honest, this is Scotland, and you’re going to need somewhere to hang your rain gear. The breakfast situation is more continental than full Scottish, but they source everything locally, and the coffee is actually decent. Parking is right there, which is clutch because finding a spot in some of these coastal towns can be a nightmare, especially during festival season or when the weather’s nice and half of Edinburgh decides to drive out for fish and chips. The only thing I’d mention is that if you’re expecting a buzzing hotel bar scene, this isn’t that – it’s more intimate, more about the charm of the place itself and the gorgeous coastline literally at your doorstep. But if you want to feel like you’ve discovered something special, somewhere that feels both polished and authentic without trying too hard, The Fishing Boat gets it right.

Cosy and very homely. Loved the little fishing and seaside trinkets. Best caravan I've stayed in. Beds were comfortable and perfect from 6 adults.
Donna from United Kingdom
Caravan was spotlessly clean with everything we needed for our 3 night stay.
Situated in a quiet area of the park with just a short stroll to amenities.

Wonderful little place with lots to offer at the resort. Room for the six of us comfortably. Enloyed the whole experience. The people at the shop were wonderful too. My son enjoyed the arcade. We had no idea what all was available. So much!

It was very clean and welcoming. There was fresh milk in the fridge and a special welcome message that gave it a personal touch.
