Teviotview Riverside Retreat

HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Teviotview Riverside Retreat, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The address says “caravan park” which had me thinking static caravans and holiday camps, but this is actually something completely different. It’s tucked along the River Teviot just outside Hawick proper, and honestly? It’s one of those places you’d never find unless someone told you about it.
What struck me first was how quiet it gets once you’re settled in – you know that proper countryside quiet where you can actually hear the river running. The accommodation itself is more like a boutique setup than anything resembling a traditional hotel or caravan site. No star rating because it doesn’t fit the usual categories, which actually makes sense when you’re there. The owners have clearly put thought into the details – proper bedding, decent coffee setup, none of that cheap hotel furniture that wobbles when you look at it. Parking’s right there, no hunting around side streets like you get in Hawick town center.
The location is actually brilliant if you know the area. You’re maybe ten minutes from Hawick’s high street but far enough out that you miss all the Saturday night noise from the pubs. If you’re doing the Borders tourist thing – Abbotsford House, the textile mills, maybe some walking along the Teviot – this puts you right in the sweet spot without having to deal with Edinburgh prices or those big chain places that all feel identical. I mean, the River Teviot isn’t exactly the Thames, but there’s something properly relaxing about having it right there. Morning coffee while watching the water move is worth the slightly out-of-town location. The whole setup just feels more… authentic, I suppose. Like someone actually cares about the place rather than just running through a corporate checklist.
