Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway
First Impressions
Pulling up to Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway along Highway 191, you immediately get that feeling you’re somewhere special. This four-star resort sits perfectly positioned just outside Moab, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring Utah’s red rock country. The property has this relaxed, outdoorsy vibe that makes sense once you realize it’s designed specifically for people who want to experience Arches National Park without roughing it completely. There’s ample parking right on-site, which — trust me — is a huge relief when you’re hauling camping gear or adventure equipment.
The Accommodations
The room options here range from traditional hotel-style accommodations to more unique glamping setups, depending on what you’re after. I mean, you’re not coming here for marble bathrooms and turndown service, but the spaces are clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed for people who spend their days hiking and exploring. What I really appreciated was how each unit feels connected to the landscape — you wake up looking at those incredible red rock formations that Moab is famous for. The whole setup strikes this nice balance between comfort and that authentic outdoor experience you came here for.
Location and Access to Adventure
You know what makes this place work so well? It’s literally the gateway to everything you want to do in the area. Arches National Park is right there, and you can actually see some of the formations from the property itself. Couples especially seem to love the location — and I get why, because there’s something pretty romantic about watching the sunset paint those red rocks while you’re relaxing at your base camp. The fact that recent guests rated the location so highly tells you everything you need to know about how well-positioned this place is for exploring the region.
Amenities and Atmosphere
The resort keeps things focused on what matters most — getting you comfortable between adventures and connecting you with the incredible natural setting. There’s a restaurant on-site, which is honestly a godsend when you’ve spent the day hiking through Delicate Arch or scrambling around in Fiery Furnace and don’t feel like driving into town for dinner. The whole atmosphere feels relaxed and unpretentious, sort of like a really well-run summer camp for adults who appreciate good design and comfortable beds.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway apart is how it enhances rather than competes with the natural experience you came to Moab for. You’re not stuck in some generic hotel room — you’re staying somewhere that actually feels connected to this incredible landscape. The staff understands that most guests are here for the outdoor adventures, so everything from check-in to recommendations feels geared toward helping you make the most of your time in red rock country. It’s that rare place where the accommodation becomes part of the adventure rather than just a place to sleep between activities.
Resort villages line palm-fringed shores, vineyard hillsides, and quiet mountain valleys across fourteen countries.

During our road trip we made a 3 day stop in Moab and stayed at the Sun Outdoors in an Airstream. Check-in was smooth, polite and courteous. The "Airstream" was pretty new and equipped with everything you need. We also had a larger one which had 2 double beds and a bunk bed. Since there were only two of us, we had plenty of space. On the...

It was the perfect little cabin. The location was super convenient for our trips to Arches and to attend a wedding at the nearby Red Earth Venue. Loved that it was close to downtown Moab, but much less congested.

We stayed in a cabin. Appreciated that though there were many RV's, etc., on site it was quiet in the evening. Front desk staff were very friendly. Also, it is a large camping area yet seemed very well cared for and organized.

Nice cabin, great location.

We loved it all, except that the deck furniture was filthy. We had to clean that before we could use it. The beds were pretty hard, but after hiking all day we were too tired to care. The shower was great. The accomodations are cute. The decks are very nice. Loved the good lighting, the windows, the handy shade, the stereo and speaker system were...
