Shelly Beach Holiday Park
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Shelly Beach Holiday Park on Bateau Bay Road, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and the name sounds pretty basic, right? But you know what actually surprised me? This spot has that relaxed Central Coast vibe nailed down perfectly, and the location is honestly fantastic if you want to explore both The Entrance and the quieter Bateau Bay area without dealing with the madness of staying right on The Entrance strip.
The park itself feels more like a proper community than just another holiday accommodation – there are families who’ve clearly been coming here for years, and you’ll see the same faces around the camp kitchen in the mornings making coffee and comparing notes about which beach was better yesterday. The facilities are clean and well-maintained (which, let’s be honest, isn’t always a given at holiday parks), and I actually loved that you can walk to Shelly Beach in about five minutes through the residential streets. It’s this gorgeous little stretch that most tourists completely miss because they’re all crowded around The Entrance beach. The water’s usually calmer there too, especially if you’ve got kids who aren’t confident swimmers yet.
What really works about this place is how it sits right in that sweet spot between The Entrance chaos and Bateau Bay’s quieter family scene. You can walk to Woolies and grab supplies without getting in the car, but you’re also close enough to drive to Crackneck Lookout or even down to Terrigal if you want a proper day trip. The staff – well, they’re genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and check-in was surprisingly smooth even though we arrived during school holidays. I mean, there’s definitely some road noise from Bateau Bay Road, especially in the morning when everyone’s heading to work, but it settles down pretty quickly and honestly wasn’t bad enough to lose sleep over. The playground area gets pretty lively in the afternoons with all the kids running around, which is either charming or slightly annoying depending on whether you’re traveling with little ones yourself. But that’s holiday park life for you – it comes with the territory, and there’s something nice about that community feeling where everyone’s just trying to have a good time by the coast.

Honestly couldn’t fault it, only thing would be some extra car spaces for one cabin but honestly was not an issue!

Great location. Short walk to the beach, pool, surf club and bowling club.
Love that you can get coffee and snacks from the Chew Chew Van near the pool.

Shelly Beach is a favourite of mine on the central coast. Being picky, it would be good if the kitchen had a few more things like a platter to serve arvo nibblies.

We booked Walk to beach cabin, however upon arrival, the lovely staff gave an Ocean view cabin due to some maintenance with the other cabin. The Ocean view cabin was spacious and had a lovely sea view. In addition, there was water parks and pool which was a great highlight. We had a great time and the kids enjoyed a lot with waterparks. The water temp of the pool was too warm. With a 35 degree day, it wasn't as refreshing as expected.
