HOTEL OVERVIEW
So I’ve stayed at the Sentido Kamelya Fulya a few times now – it’s this sprawling 5-star all-inclusive complex right in Colakli, which honestly is one of the better spots along the Side coastline if you want that resort bubble experience without being completely cut off from everything. The first thing that hits you when you pull up is just how massive this place is. I mean, they’ve got multiple pools, waterslides that actually look fun (not those sad little things some resorts have), and the beach access is legit – you’re literally walking onto that gorgeous stretch of Mediterranean sand that Side is famous for.
What really sets this place apart from other all-inclusives in the area is that they’ve actually figured out how to handle crowds without making it feel like a zoo. The aqua park area gets busy around mid-morning when families descend with their kids, but there are these quieter pool areas tucked away where you can escape if you need to. The rooms are solid – I’ve stayed in both the standard and the family rooms, and honestly, even the basic ones are spacious with decent balconies. You know what I really appreciate? The air conditioning actually works properly, which… well, if you’ve been to Turkey in summer, you know that’s not always a given. The food situation is pretty impressive too – they rotate through different themed nights, and the Turkish breakfast spread alone is worth the stay. Fresh börek, proper Turkish tea, and they make a mean menemen if you ask nicely.
Here’s the thing about staying in Colakli though – you’re about 10 minutes from Side’s old town, which is perfect because you can easily hop over to see the ancient amphitheater and wander those narrow cobblestone streets when you want some culture, but you’re not dealing with the noise and chaos of being right in the historic center. The hotel runs a shuttle to Side, but honestly, the dolmuş (local minibus) is cheaper and more fun – just flag one down on the main road. The beach here is actually better than what you’ll find right in Side proper – cleaner, more space to spread out, and the water stays pretty calm thanks to how the coastline curves. I’d say if you’re looking for that classic Turkish Riviera experience with good food, decent entertainment, and you don’t mind a resort atmosphere, this place delivers. Just book early if you’re planning to visit during Turkish school holidays – the place fills up with local families, and while the energy is great, finding a quiet spot by the pool becomes a bit of a mission.
