First Impressions
When I first pulled into Rio Stratford-Upon-Avon, I’ll be honest β the caravan park setting caught me off guard. But you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that surprise you. This four-star property sits right on Warwick Road in Stratford-upon-Avon, and while it’s technically part of Avon Park Caravan Park, it feels more like a boutique retreat than anything you’d expect from that description. The fact that couples keep rating this place so highly (I mean, an 8.2 overall score speaks for itself) tells you there’s something special happening here.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s the thing about staying just outside Stratford’s town center β you get the best of both worlds. Recent guests have been rating the location at 9.3, and honestly, I get it. You’re close enough to walk into town for dinner or catch a show at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, but far enough out that you actually hear birds instead of traffic when you wake up. The parking situation is brilliant too β free and private, which anyone who’s tried to park in central Stratford will appreciate. I actually found myself using this as a base to explore the Cotswolds, since you’re perfectly positioned for day trips to places like Chipping Campden or Bourton-on-the-Water.
The Accommodation Experience
The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious and well-appointed for what you’d expect at this price point. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully designed β not that cookie-cutter hotel feel you sometimes get. The windows frame views of the surrounding countryside, and there’s something genuinely peaceful about watching the light change over the fields in the evening. What really impressed me was the attention to detail in the furnishings and the quality of the bedding. You know how some places cut corners on the basics? Not here.
Dining and Amenities
While there isn’t a full-service restaurant on-site, the nearby dining options in Stratford more than make up for it. Actually, I found this worked in my favor β it gave me an excuse to explore the town’s pub scene and try places like The Garrick Inn (which dates back to the 14th century, if you’re into that sort of thing). The property does have some nice common areas where you can relax with a book or plan your next day’s adventures. The whole setup encourages you to get out and explore rather than hiding away in your room all day.
Why Guests Love It
I think what makes Rio Stratford-Upon-Avon work so well, especially for couples, is that it strikes this perfect balance between comfort and authenticity. You’re not paying city-center prices, but you’re getting quality that rivals much more expensive places. The peaceful setting means you can actually unwind after a day of sightseeing, and the location gives you easy access to both Stratford’s cultural attractions and the broader Warwickshire countryside. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself extending your stay by a night because β well, why rush back to reality?

This was an excellent find for us. Such a beautiful caravan in fact the photos on the website don't do it justice at all. The caravan was exceptionally big and the bedrooms were a great size with really comfortable beds and lovely soft bedding. Two toilets was a bonus. The kitchen was an ample size with everything you needed for your stay. Great...
