Oz Hotels Sui

So I’ve been staying at Oz Hotels Sui in Okurcalar for the past few days, and honestly, it’s one of those places that surprises you in ways you don’t expect. The address says Alanya, but you’re actually in this quieter stretch called Okurcalar – about 30 minutes from the main Alanya chaos, which is honestly perfect if you want that Turkish Riviera experience without fighting crowds for every beach chair.

The thing about this place is that it really does feel like a proper five-star setup, even though the 7.7 rating might make you think otherwise. I mean, those booking site ratings can be weird sometimes – people get bent out of shape about the smallest things. What I noticed right away was how the lobby actually smells like Turkish rose and not that generic hotel air freshener, and the marble floors are this gorgeous cream color that somehow doesn’t show every footprint. The check-in was smooth, too – none of that “your room isn’t ready” nonsense even though I arrived early. You know what really got me though? The staff actually remembered my name by day two, which… well, that doesn’t happen at most places.

The rooms are spacious – I’m talking about real space, not that clever furniture arrangement that makes you think you have room to breathe. Floor-to-ceiling windows that open to either mountain views or sea glimpses, depending on what you book. The bathroom has this rainfall shower that actually has decent pressure, which anyone who’s traveled in Turkey knows can be hit or miss. Honestly, the only thing that bugged me was the mini-fridge placement – it’s sort of awkwardly tucked under the desk, so you’re basically doing yoga moves to grab a bottle of water. But the beds? Seriously comfortable, and the AC works without sounding like a jet engine, which is crucial during those sweltering August afternoons.

What really makes this place work is the location on that little side street – 1001 Sokak is basically residential, so you’re not dealing with the tourist strip noise, but you can still walk to the main road in about five minutes when you want restaurants or that little market that sells the best Turkish delight I’ve had outside Istanbul. The beach access is through a small path that locals use, so it feels more authentic than those resort-controlled stretches. Morning coffee on the balcony while listening to the call to prayer from the nearby mosque – it’s exactly what you picture when you think about Turkey, but in the best possible way. The pool area gets busy around 11 AM, but if you’re an early riser like me, you can basically have the whole place to yourself until then.
