Osada Kotarz sits right in the sweet spot — close enough to hiking trails and ski slopes (Szczyrk is just a short drive), but far enough from the crowds that you actually feel like you’re getting away from it all. The free parking on-site is clutch because you’ll definitely want a car to explore the area properly. I spent hours just driving the winding roads through the Beskids, and having a guaranteed spot to come back to was honestly a relief.

The Accommodations

The room I stayed in had this perfect balance of mountain lodge charm and modern comfort — think exposed wooden beams but with excellent Wi-Fi and a spotless bathroom. What really impressed me was the attention to detail in the furnishings; everything felt thoughtfully chosen rather than just ordered from a hotel catalog. The windows frame the surrounding landscape beautifully, and if you’re lucky enough to get one of the higher floors, the views stretch across the valley in a way that makes you want to just sit and stare for a while.

The on-site restaurant serves up solid regional cuisine — I’m talking hearty Polish mountain food that actually hits the spot after a day of hiking. They do this excellent oscypek (smoked sheep cheese) that pairs perfectly with their local beer selection. The spa facilities are where this place really shines though; after spending the day exploring the trails around Klimczok peak, sinking into their sauna felt like exactly what my muscles needed. It’s not massive, but it’s well-designed and never felt crowded during my stay.
