NRMA Warrnambool Riverside Holiday Park
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from a holiday park in Warrnambool, but NRMA Riverside actually surprised me. The location on Jubilee Park Road is honestly perfect – you’re literally right next to the Hopkins River, and I mean right next to it. I could hear the water from my cabin, which sounds cheesy but was actually really relaxing. The whole setup feels more like a proper resort than your typical caravan park experience.
What really got me was how well they’ve thought everything through. The cabins are genuinely comfortable (not just “camping comfortable”), and the amenities actually work properly – you know how sometimes these places have those tiny shower heads that barely drizzle? Not here. The grounds are immaculate too, which matters when you’re wandering around in bare feet. There’s this great walking track that connects right to the river, perfect for morning coffee walks or letting the kids burn off energy. Speaking of kids, they’ve got a decent playground and pool area that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. During school holidays it gets pretty lively, but honestly the families staying here seem pretty considerate – no one’s blasting music at midnight or anything.
The staff genuinely know Warrnambool well, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about the best spot to see whales (it was June, prime season), they didn’t just point me to the obvious tourist spots but mentioned this little viewing area near the breakwater that locals use. Check-in was smooth, parking’s easy – there’s heaps of space so you’re not doing that awkward car shuffle dance. You’re also perfectly positioned here – five minutes to the main beach, walkable to some decent cafes along Liebig Street, and if you’re into the whole maritime history thing, the Flagstaff Hill museum is just down the road. I actually ended up staying an extra night because it felt like such a good base for exploring the area. For a 4-star holiday park, the 8.2 rating makes total sense – it’s one of those places that just gets the basics right and adds enough nice touches to make it feel special without trying too hard.
Premium village resorts combine the charm of traditional village life with modern luxury accommodations, creating unique destinations where travelers can immerse themselves in local culture and relaxation.

Everything we needed was there, kitchen very well-equipped. Good bathroom with amenities. Lovely location near the river. We only had a short stay, would have been good to spend more time to enjoy the 2 swimming pools and riverside. What could be improved: The dial on the stove is wrong and the setting for 'Off' isn't actually off. It would be...

We loved our stay. Location is so peaceful with a beautiful view of the river. There were so many things for the kids to do inside the park, we found it hard to get them to leave! And the staff were great, extremely friendly and helpful.
