NRMA Port Campbell Holiday Park
NRMA Port Campbell Holiday Park Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when you first pull up to the NRMA Port Campbell Holiday Park on Morris Street, it doesn’t exactly scream luxury resort. But you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. This is proper holiday park territory, the kind of place where families have been coming back for decades, and after staying here, I totally get why.
The location is honestly brilliant – you’re literally a five-minute walk from the main strip where all the cafés and the visitor center are, but more importantly, you’re close enough to hear the Southern Ocean without being right on top of the tourist chaos around the Twelve Apostles viewing area. I mean, don’t get me wrong, you’ll still want to do the whole Apostles thing (and the park staff actually give you decent tips on when to go to avoid the worst crowds), but it’s nice having somewhere to retreat to that feels a bit more… normal, I guess.
The facilities are pretty solid for what you’re paying – the amenities blocks are clean (always a relief at holiday parks), and there’s this communal kitchen area that’s actually quite social if you’re into that sort of thing. I watched kids racing around on bikes while their parents shared cooking tips over the BBQ areas, which sounds cheesy but was genuinely lovely. The powered sites are decent sized too, though if you’re bringing a massive caravan, you might want to call ahead – some spots are better than others for maneuvering. What really impressed me was how well-maintained everything felt. You can tell the management actually cares about the place, which isn’t always a given with holiday parks.
The staff deserve a mention here – they’re not just going through the motions with tourist information. When I asked about walking tracks, the woman at reception pulled out this hand-drawn map showing a back route down to the beach that most visitors never find. Little things like that make all the difference when you’re trying to experience a place properly rather than just tick boxes. And honestly, Port Campbell in the early morning or late afternoon is magic – the light hits those limestone cliffs differently, and you’ll have stretches of coastline almost to yourself if you time it right.
Sure, it’s not fancy – the cabins are functional rather than Instagram-worthy, and if you’re expecting resort-style service, you’re in the wrong place. But there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that focuses on the basics done well rather than trying to be something it’s not. The Wi-Fi actually works (crucial for uploading all those sunset photos), there’s proper hot water, and you’re not paying through the nose for the privilege of being near one of Australia’s most spectacular stretches of coast. For families especially, this place just makes sense – kids have space to run around safely, parents can relax without worrying about breaking something expensive, and everyone’s close enough to the main attractions without being stuck in the thick of it all the time.

Nantakan from Thailand (September 23, 2023)
We booked "Studio" type and it was nice, new, and clean. Various amenities provided either in each room or shared facilities outside. Loving the wild rabbits that roam around during nights and early morning too. What could be improved: We arrived late and it was very dark. Though instructions were provided in a box, it was confusing to have to...
Garry from United Kingdom (March 14, 2025)
Great spot, cabin had everything we needed and a huge comfy bed
Lisa from Australia (March 11, 2025)
Great location.
Likhith from Australia (February 18, 2025)
The room was comfy, closer to port campbell beach and to all restaurants.
What could be improved: Kettle was not clean, need a mat outside shower.
Cynthia from Australia (February 17, 2025)
Close to town and restaurants. Close to attractions What could be improved: My hubby bought a bait, supposed to be pilchard & pippies. It so happened there was no pippies available but his card was already charged for the total of those two baits. Staff said she doesn’t know how to do the refund on his card. So my hubby told the staff if he can...
Mick from Australia (February 16, 2025)
It was clean, quiet and centrally located
What could be improved: Nothing
Kari from Australia (January 30, 2025)
Ease of check in and out.
The location was great, walking distance to everything.
The cabins were a little older and smaller than we expected but well maintained, so there was no issue there. Would happily book and stay in a cabin again.
Sally from Australia (December 21, 2024)
Very close to the beach
What could be improved: The property was a little dirty, windows and curtains very dirty.
John from Australia (November 30, 2024)
Everything, but a table and chairs in the room would have been good.
What could be improved: The door needs attention. Jammed severely.
Jason from Australia (November 16, 2024)
The owners are absolute fantastic to deal with.
They've recently taken over the management and they seem super friendly and super eager to give a memorable experience to all guests.
What could be improved: A microwave in the room would've been great but not a deal breaker
