Northridge Golf Resort
You know what struck me first about Northridge Golf Resort? It’s actually not right in Orewa township where all the holiday crowds cluster around the beach cafés – instead, it sits up on Wainui Road with this surprisingly peaceful vibe that makes you forget you’re only a few minutes from one of Auckland’s busiest summer spots. I mean, you can still hear the ocean if you listen for it, but there’s something almost rural about the setting that caught me off guard in the best way.
The golf course is honestly the star here (obviously, it’s in the name), but even if you’re not into chasing little white balls around manicured grass, the resort has this laid-back charm that works. The accommodation feels properly comfortable without trying too hard – think quality hotel furniture that doesn’t make you paranoid about spilling your coffee, and rooms that actually have enough power outlets in sensible places. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward hovering while they upsell you on room upgrades or restaurant reservations. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets in the evenings – you’re far enough from Hibiscus Coast Highway that you don’t get the constant car noise, but close enough that popping down to Orewa Beach for fish and chips takes maybe five minutes in the car.
The staff seem to genuinely know the area, which matters more than you’d think. When I asked about decent coffee nearby (because let’s be honest, hotel coffee is hit or miss), they pointed me toward this little spot on Tamariki Avenue that locals actually use, not just some tourist trap. The resort restaurant does solid food – nothing revolutionary, but they know how to handle fresh seafood and their breakfast doesn’t feel like it came from a packet. Parking is abundant and free, which sounds boring until you’ve spent a summer weekend circling Orewa Main Road looking for a spot. The pool area gets busy during school holidays, but honestly, most of the families seem to migrate down to the beach by mid-morning anyway. If you’re here outside of peak summer, you’ll pretty much have the place to yourself. It’s that sweet spot where everything works without any particular fuss – good beds, reliable wifi, and staff who don’t act like answering questions is a personal inconvenience.
Exclusive resorts offer guests unparalleled luxury and comfort in breathtaking locations, with world-class dining, spa services, and activities tailored to create the ultimate vacation experience.

Breakfast was good. Place was clean and tidy, abit of road traffic noise. What could be improved: Wanted to have tea the night we arrived in the resturant, but were told closed for a public holiday, but they had a wedding happening. Wish they had let us know, no food available. As we had to get back in the car and go out again for tea. And felt...

The fact that the restaurant wasn’t open for an evening meal, or any offer of room service. You had to drive to find food

Not having a dinner option, we had to drive to Orewa to find something
We did find a nice buffet (on our way to Orewa Beach) which we found by seeing a sign on the roadside - we would recommend it to other guests

I loved the location! The receptionist gave us a room facing the golf course. It was peaceful and the view was beautiful. The beds were comfortable. Great stay.
