Nellys nook

Nellys nook Overview
You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of places along the Yorkshire coast, but Nelly’s Nook honestly caught me off guard. It’s tucked away on Sands Road in Reighton – and I mean properly tucked away, the kind of spot you’d drive past three times before realizing you’ve found it. That’s actually part of its charm though. This isn’t some cookie-cutter chain hotel trying to impress you with marble lobbies and uniformed staff. It’s more like staying at the home of that well-traveled friend who somehow knows exactly what you need before you do.
The whole place has this effortless sophistication that feels genuinely earned rather than designed by committee. Each room is different – and I mean actually different, not just “we changed the throw pillows” different. When I walked into mine, there was this gorgeous vintage writing desk positioned perfectly by the window, overlooking fields that stretch toward Filey Bay. The morning light streaming in was something else entirely. You can hear the sea from most rooms, which is lovely until you realize it might keep light sleepers awake (though honestly, I found it soothing after the first night). The owners clearly put thought into the little things – proper blackout curtains, decent water pressure, and thank god, reliable WiFi that actually works throughout the building.
What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the landscape. Reighton itself is sort of perfectly positioned between the busier spots like Scarborough and Bridlington, so you get this sense of discovery without feeling completely isolated. There’s a footpath that leads directly to Reighton Sands from the hotel grounds – takes about ten minutes of pleasant walking through what locals call “the gap,” and suddenly you’re on this expansive beach that feels almost private, especially early morning or late afternoon. The Dotterel pub is maybe a five-minute walk if you fancy a proper Yorkshire meal, and their fish and chips are honestly better than what you’ll find in the touristy spots down the coast. Parking is straightforward (always a relief), and the check-in process was refreshingly normal – no forced upselling or complicated key card systems, just genuine helpful conversation about local walks and where to catch the best sunset. That 9.8 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why boutique hotels exist in the first place.
Each resort village provides a unique blend of privacy and community, where guests enjoy villa-style accommodations while having access to shared amenities and social experiences.
