59 Cliff Field
First Impressions
Honestly, 59 Cliff Field caught me off guard in the best way possible. You’re expecting maybe just another seaside B&B, but this four-star property in Hopton on Sea has this understated elegance that feels refreshingly genuine. The location on Corton Road puts you right where you want to be β close enough to hear the waves but tucked away from any tourist chaos. I mean, the name gives it away really, perched as it is with those stunning cliff views that honestly make you want to just sit and stare for hours.
The Setting
What strikes you immediately is how this place captures that perfect Norfolk coast vibe without trying too hard. Hopton on Sea isn’t one of those overly polished resort towns β it’s got character, you know? The beach here stretches for miles, and you’ll often find yourself with more space than you know what to do with. From the property, you can actually walk down to the sand in just a few minutes, and there’s something magical about having that kind of access without the crowds you’d get at somewhere like Great Yarmouth. The cliff-top position means you’re getting those panoramic sea views that change completely depending on the weather and time of day.
Accommodation Details
The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed β not flashy, but everything felt considered and comfortable. You’ll find the furnishings strike that sweet spot between coastal charm and modern practicality. The windows are generous, which matters when you’re dealing with those dramatic Norfolk skies, and honestly, waking up to sea views never gets old. There’s decent storage space (always appreciated when you’re staying more than a night), and the bathroom was well-appointed without being over the top. What I really appreciated was how quiet everything was β you can hear the sea, but not your neighbors.
Why Couples Choose This Spot
It’s no surprise that couples rate this place so highly β there’s something inherently romantic about the whole setup. The cliff-top walks are spectacular, especially around sunset when the light hits the water just right. You’re also perfectly positioned for exploring some of Norfolk’s more secluded spots. Winterton-on-Sea is just down the coast and has those incredible seal colonies if you time it right. The nearby village of Corton has a decent pub, and you’re close enough to Norwich (about 45 minutes) if you want a proper day out, but far enough away that it feels like a proper escape.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back, I think, is how this place manages to feel both special and unpretentious. The staff clearly know what they’re doing β service feels personal without being intrusive. The parking situation is straightforward (always a relief when you’re unfamiliar with an area), and the whole property has this relaxed confidence that comes from getting the fundamentals right. You’re not paying for unnecessary frills, but everything you actually need is there and done well. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.

Spacious, clean and comfortable with a sea view. Host had left a beautiful card welcoming us. The location was perfect, lots of dog walks along the cliff tops and lots of entertainment for my toddler. Short commute to various beaches including Gorleston and Yarmouth.
