You know what struck me first about Nambucca River Village? It’s actually tucked away on Nursery Road – which sounds boring but is honestly perfect because you’re away from all the Pacific Highway traffic noise that plagues most of Macksville’s accommodation options. I mean, you can still hear the occasional truck if you’re really listening, but it’s nothing like staying right in town.
The whole setup feels more like a proper village than a hotel, which I guess is the point. Lincoln Place clearly put some thought into this – the buildings are spread out enough that you’re not hearing your neighbors through paper-thin walls, and there’s this sort of relaxed, almost residential vibe that works really well. The rooms themselves are solid four-star standard, nothing revolutionary but everything works properly (which, honestly, isn’t always a given around here). What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – actually functional, not just a tiny bar fridge and a kettle like so many places give you. Perfect if you want to grab fresh prawns from the river or hit up the weekend markets in Nambucca Heads.
Speaking of the river, that’s where this place really shines. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from some of the better fishing spots, and if you’re into kayaking or just want to watch the pelicans do their thing, you couldn’t ask for better access. The staff actually know the area too – not just the usual tourist brochure stuff, but real local intel about tide times and which spots are running well. I stayed during autumn (probably the sweet spot for weather) and had the whole place feeling pretty relaxed and uncrowded. Summer’s obviously busier with the Sydney crowd escaping north, but even then it’s not the zoo that places closer to the beach become. The 8.6 rating makes sense when you factor in that it delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something fancy it’s not. Sure, you’re not getting room service or a concierge, but you’re also not paying resort prices to stare at other tourists all day. It’s that middle ground between camping and luxury that actually works for people who want to experience the Nambucca area properly rather than just Instagram it and leave.

The cabin was a little dated but it serves its purpose and was clean. I did like the note left on the fridge!

The view from our cabin was straight across from the boat ramp so we could watch everyone coming & going. Also could see the fishmen in there boats fishing. It was also very peaceful & quite.

The facilities for guests are a great improvement, namely the mini golf and the revamped pool area. Being upgraded to a villa was a pleasant surprise and very much appreciated with 2 children. We used the camp kitchen BBQ area for an extended family meal which was more than accommodating. The staff were extremely friendly and approachable. What...
