Moonta Bay Holiday Park
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Moonta Bay Holiday Park on Tossell Street – I mean, holiday parks can be hit or miss, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked into Port Moonta in this sweet spot where you get that proper coastal vibe without the chaos of the bigger tourist strips. The whole setup feels more like a community than just another place to crash for the night.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep things relaxed but still polished. The grounds are honestly immaculate – not in that sterile resort way, but you can tell someone actually cares about the place. I watched the staff chatting with families who’d clearly been coming back for years, which tells you something. The accommodations range from basic cabins to these surprisingly nice villas, and honestly, even the simpler spots are clean and comfortable. I stayed in one of the mid-range cabins and was pleasantly shocked by how spacious it felt – proper kitchen, decent shower pressure (always a gamble at holiday parks), and windows that actually let in some decent light.
The location is what really seals the deal though. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the jetty, and if you time it right in the evening, you’ll catch locals dropping lines off the pier while the sun goes down. There’s this little general store nearby that’s been there forever – grab your milk and bread there instead of driving into Kadina if you can’t be bothered. Parking’s never an issue, which is more than I can say for a lot of coastal spots during peak season. The only minor thing I’d mention is that it can get a bit lively on weekends when the families with older kids roll in, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. It quiets down by 9 PM anyway, and the sound of the ocean sort of drowns out any lingering chatter. I’d definitely come back – it’s one of those places that gets the balance right between being social enough to feel alive but peaceful enough to actually unwind.

Room upstairs. When we arrived we were given a room downstairs. My daughter was excited to have the balcony and was disappointed.

The motel was impeccably clean, with spotless rooms and well-maintained facilities. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles and were always ready to assist, making our stay exceptionally enjoyable. What could be improved: The price was very good, but the minimum range offered was not comparable to the other available rooms. I had assumed that the...

The cabins were so nice, came with everything we needed. Check in and out was efficient. Great amenities for kids and a very quick walk to the beach and splash town. Will definitely be staying again.
