Millendreath Beach Resort
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Millendreath Beach Resort, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t look like your typical four-star resort from the outside. The Valley Bungalows address had me expecting something more traditional, but this place is actually tucked into the Cornish coastline in a way that feels refreshingly unpretentious. You know what struck me most? The sound of waves hitting the beach below was audible from the moment I stepped out of my car, which immediately told me this wasn’t going to be another cookie-cutter hotel experience.
The Looe Location Magic
The location is honestly what makes this place special — and I can see why couples rate it so highly. Looe itself is one of those Cornish fishing towns that hasn’t been completely overtaken by tourism, though it definitely gets busy in summer. From the resort, you’re literally steps from Millendreath Beach (hence the name), which is this lovely stretch of sand that’s somehow less crowded than the main Looe beaches. I mean, you can walk into town along the coastal path in about fifteen minutes, but you feel like you’re in your own little bubble here.
Accommodation Reality Check
My room was comfortable enough, though I’d say the four-star rating is more about the location than the upscale factor. The furnishings are a bit dated — think early 2000s seaside hotel vibes — but everything was clean and the sea views from most rooms are genuinely spectacular. Actually, the restaurant area has these huge windows that frame the coastline perfectly, especially during sunset. There’s parking on-site too, which is actually a bigger deal than you might think given how narrow these Cornish coastal roads can get.
The Beach Experience
Here’s where things get interesting — you’ve got direct beach access, which is pretty rare along this stretch of coast. Millendreath Beach is this perfect crescent of sand that’s sheltered enough for families but still gets decent waves when the conditions are right. I spent most mornings just walking along the shore before the day-trippers arrived, and honestly, those quiet moments made the whole stay worthwhile. The coastal path connects you to both East and West Looe, so you can explore without dealing with car parking headaches in town.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but there’s something genuinely relaxing about being right on the water like this. The staff seem to understand that people come here to disconnect a bit — they’re helpful without being overly formal, and the whole atmosphere feels more like a well-run guesthouse than a corporate hotel. If you’re the type who values location over flashy amenities, and you want to fall asleep to the sound of waves rather than traffic, then Millendreath Beach Resort delivers exactly what it promises. Just don’t expect five-star prestige — expect something better: authentic Cornish coastal charm.

We liked the location as it was close to a little bay where we could swim each day. Parking was easy and pretty cheap for Cornwall. Close to many fishing villages and had good access to the south coast pathways so we could walk from Millendreath to Looe and Seaton.
