Platinum Holiday Caravan
First Impressions
When I first pulled into Platinum Holiday Caravan at Skiddaw View Holiday Park, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from a caravan stay. But this four-star setup completely changed my perspective on what holiday park accommodation can be. The moment you step inside, it’s clear this isn’t your typical cramped caravan experience. Everything feels thoughtfully designed and surprisingly spacious, with modern touches that make you forget you’re technically in a mobile home. The attention to detail throughout the space sets a welcoming tone from the very start.
The Space and Comfort
The room layout actually works brilliantly — there’s a proper separation between the living area and bedrooms that gives couples (or families) some breathing space. What impressed me most was the fully equipped kitchen that’s genuinely usable, not just for show. You can actually cook a proper meal here, which is rare in holiday park accommodation. The furnishings feel contemporary without being sterile, and honestly, the whole place is cleaner and more comfortable than some hotels I’ve stayed in. The clever use of space makes everything feel open and inviting.
Location and Surroundings
Now, Bothel might not ring any bells, but that’s exactly why this location works so well. You’re tucked away in the Lake District countryside with Skiddaw — one of the area’s most recognizable peaks — dominating the horizon. It’s peaceful in a way that’s hard to find these days, yet you’re not completely cut off from civilization. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward too — no hunting for spaces or feeding meters, just pull up right outside your caravan. The surrounding landscape provides a stunning natural backdrop.
What Sets It Apart
The thing about Skiddaw View Holiday Park is that it strikes this perfect balance between being a proper base for Lake District exploration and a retreat where you can just breathe. I mean, you wake up to those fell views every morning, and there’s something genuinely restorative about that. The park itself feels well-maintained without being overly manicured — you know what I mean, where everything’s so perfect it feels artificial. Here, it just feels like a natural part of the landscape. This harmony between comfort and nature is what makes the experience truly special.
Why Guests Love It
Looking at that 9.6 rating, I can see why people keep coming back. It’s not trying to be something it’s not — there’s no pretentious spa or fancy restaurant — but what it does offer is genuine comfort and that increasingly rare commodity of proper peace and quiet. Couples especially seem to get it (that 9.0 location rating from pairs makes total sense), probably because there’s something quite romantic about having your own little retreat with those mountain views. You’re close enough to Keswick and the major Lake District attractions for day trips, but far enough away that you actually feel like you’ve escaped. The overall experience delivers authentic relaxation.
Travelers can book a resort that perfectly matches their vacation dreams, from beachfront properties to mountain retreats, ensuring every detail is crafted for maximum enjoyment and relaxation.

Staff : Note that the caravan was located in a wider "caravan park" which I guess maintained by a central corporation at the site. However for these several "private units", there was no reception facility, hence we just communicated via the Booking.com App (friendly in nature). The response time was very short i.e. same day and/or within hours...

I’ve never stayed in such a modern caravan. I’d seen pictures but in person myself and my wife were blown away how high the standard was.
