Meadow Lakes Holiday Park
First Impressions
Honestly, Meadow Lakes Holiday Park caught me off guard in the best possible way. I mean, you hear “holiday park” and might think basic accommodations, but this four-star property near St Austell is something else entirely. The moment you arrive at Hewas Water, you’re greeted by these gorgeous lakes that actually give the place its name — and trust me, the scenery alone makes the drive worth it.
The Setting
What really sets this place apart is its location around the old china clay workings that have been transformed into these stunning water features. You know what’s brilliant? The way they’ve managed to create this peaceful retreat while still being close enough to Cornwall’s main attractions. The Eden Project is practically on your doorstep, and you can easily reach the coast for those classic Cornish beach days. Couples absolutely love it here — I can see why they rated the location 8.9 for romantic getaways.
Accommodation Experience
The accommodation options are actually quite impressive for a holiday park setting. Whether you’re staying in a static caravan or one of their newer lodge-style units, each room feels thoughtfully designed rather than just functional. Most units come with their own kitchen facilities, which is perfect when you want to cook up some local Cornish produce or just make a proper cup of tea without trekking to reception. The views from many accommodations look out over the water, and there’s something genuinely calming about waking up to that scene.
Activities and Amenities
The lakes aren’t just for show — you can actually get out on the water with fishing or just enjoy peaceful walks around the perimeter. There’s an on-site restaurant that serves decent food (the Sunday roasts are particularly good), and they’ve got parking sorted without any of those annoying fees you find at city hotels. The facilities feel well-maintained rather than tired, which honestly isn’t always a given at holiday parks. They’ve struck this nice balance between having enough to keep you entertained without feeling overcrowded or commercialized.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests have been rating the location at 9.1, and after spending time here, I totally get it. It’s that rare combination of being tucked away in nature while still having proper amenities and easy access to Cornwall’s highlights. The staff seem to actually care about the place — you can tell in the little details, like how well the grounds are kept and how helpful they are with local recommendations. For families, couples, or anyone wanting a proper break from city life, Meadow Lakes delivers that authentic Cornish experience without sacrificing comfort. Plus, at this price point for a four-star property, you’re getting genuine value rather than paying premium rates for a fancy postcode.

Quiet location and site. Perfect base for exploring the local area. Lovely site, friendly staff. Woodland walk, farm animals, play park and outdoor pool was plenty to keep my 6yo happy in between our adventures.

The facilities were spot-on, adequate kitchen as well as corockery and cutlery, comfortable furniture, sleeping arrangements were fine Great to have the chickens roaming freely, especially for grandson's enetertainment, and of course the animals over the back, in the field. Happy with the noise levels too, very quiet and peaceful, very relaxing.
