Margaret River Tourist Park

Margaret River Tourist Park Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Margaret River over the years, and honestly, the Tourist Park on Station Road surprised me. When someone says “tourist park,” you’re probably picturing something pretty basic, right? Well, this place actually punches above its weight – there’s a reason it’s got that 4-star rating and people keep coming back.
The location is what really sold me on it. Station Road might not sound glamorous, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from the main strip where all the good cafes are (seriously, grab breakfast at Yahava Koffeeworks if you get the chance). What I love is that you’re close enough to everything without being right in the thick of tourist chaos. The owners have done something smart here – they’ve kept that relaxed, unpretentious vibe that Margaret River does so well, but with accommodations that don’t feel like you’re roughing it. The cabins are surprisingly well-maintained, and I mean that in the best way. Clean bathrooms, decent kitchenettes, and – this matters more than you’d think – proper blackout curtains so you can actually sleep in after a big night tasting wines.
You know what really impressed me though? It’s the little stuff they get right. Check-in was straightforward, no hassles about arrival times, and the staff actually know the area. When I asked about which wineries to hit, the guy didn’t just hand me a brochure – he gave me the real scoop about which places get crazy busy and which ones are worth the drive out to Wilyabrup. The grounds are well-kept without being overly manicured, if that makes sense. There’s this nice balance where it feels tidy but still has that laid-back country feel. Parking’s never an issue (which, trust me, matters when you’re dealing with Margaret River in peak season), and it’s quiet enough at night that you’re not dealing with party noise from neighboring sites. I stayed there during the Gourmet Escape festival weekend, and even then it wasn’t chaotic. The 8.5 rating makes total sense to me – it’s one of those places that consistently delivers what it promises without trying to be something it’s not. If you’re looking for a spa resort experience, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, comfortable base that won’t break the bank while you explore one of Australia’s best wine regions, you’d be hard-pressed to find better value in town.
