Reflections Urunga – Holiday Park
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Reflections Urunga on Morgo Street – it’s tucked away in this quiet residential pocket that honestly feels more like a neighborhood than a tourist strip. But that’s actually what makes this place work so well. The holiday park sits right where the Kalang and Bellinger rivers meet before they spill into the ocean, and I mean *right there* – you can hear the water moving at night, which is either going to be your thing or it isn’t.
The setup here is pretty clever, actually. They’ve got everything from powered sites to these neat little cabins that don’t feel like you’re sleeping in a glorified shed (trust me, I’ve done that before). The facilities are genuinely well-maintained – someone clearly gives a damn about keeping things clean and functional. I stayed during school holidays once and yeah, it gets busy with families, but even then the amenities held up fine. The laundry blocks are newer than you’d expect, and the camp kitchen actually has decent equipment, not those sad single burners that take twenty minutes to boil water. What really sold me though was how close everything is without feeling cramped. You can walk to the Urunga boardwalk in about five minutes – and I’m talking about that gorgeous wooden walkway that curves out over the lagoon. Early morning there is something else, especially when the mist is still hanging over the water and you’ve got pelicans doing their prehistoric thing right below you.
The staff here seem to actually live in the area, which makes a difference when you need recommendations. They’ll tell you which fish and chips place is worth it (not the obvious touristy one), or that the best coffee is actually at the little place near the bridge, not in the main shopping strip. Parking’s never been an issue, even during peak season – they’ve thought through the layout properly. The only thing that might catch you off guard is how quiet it gets after about 9 PM. I mean genuinely quiet – no traffic noise, just water and maybe some fruit bats rustling around. Some people find it too quiet, especially if they’re used to city sounds, but honestly? After a day exploring the coast or hiking in the nearby national parks, that stillness is exactly what you want. The whole area feels like stepping back twenty years in the best possible way – before everything got overly polished and expensive. It’s proper coastal Australia without the pretense.

I love that when I walk in it feels like home. I work away from home alot, so I really appreciate a space that feels homey and peaceful.

Key didn’t work. Found it hard to squeeze liquid soap from dispensers, would have liked a bedside table on both sides and reading lights.

Was concerned when we saw our cabin was near the main road, but noise was not a problem which was great.

Great setting. Close to shops and restaurants. One cabin was very roomy and well set-up. Second cabin was adequate for one person but was a bit pricey.
