First Impressions
Walking up to Lyons Robin Hood in Rhyl, you immediately get that classic British seaside hotel vibe — but honestly, in the best possible way. This four-star property sits right on Coast Road, and I mean literally steps from the beach. The building itself has character without feeling dated, which is actually harder to find than you’d think along this stretch of the Welsh coast.
Location & Surroundings
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re right in the heart of Rhyl’s seafront action, but the hotel manages to feel peaceful despite being so central. The promenade is basically your front yard, perfect for those early morning walks before the day-trippers arrive. You know what’s brilliant? You can walk to Rhyl’s main attractions without needing a car, but if you do drive, there’s parking available. The train station is close enough that you’ll hear the occasional rumble, but it’s not disruptive — just adds to that seaside town atmosphere.
The Accommodation Experience
My room faced the sea, and honestly, waking up to those views never gets old. The accommodations are well-maintained with that comfortable, unfussy style that works perfectly for a coastal getaway. What impressed me most was the attention to detail — proper blackout curtains (essential when you want to sleep in after a long day exploring), decent water pressure, and windows that actually open properly to let in that fresh sea air. The furnishings strike a nice balance between traditional and contemporary without trying too hard to be trendy.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant serves solid British fare with a focus on local ingredients — their fish dishes are particularly good, which makes sense given the location. Breakfast is hearty and well-executed, though I’d recommend getting down early if you want the quieter tables by the windows. The staff here actually seem to enjoy their work, which creates a genuinely welcoming atmosphere rather than that forced hospitality you sometimes encounter. There’s also a comfortable lounge area where you can settle in with a drink and watch the world go by.
Why Guests Love It
I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something inherently romantic about a proper seaside hotel where you can fall asleep to the sound of waves. The combination of that prime beachfront location (guests consistently rate it 9.5 for location) and the hotel’s relaxed professionalism creates exactly what you want from a Welsh coast getaway. It’s not trying to be a flashy resort or a boutique property — it’s just a really well-run hotel in an absolutely perfect spot. Whether you’re planning romantic walks along the beach or using Rhyl as a base to explore North Wales, this place delivers on the fundamentals while giving you those little moments that make a trip memorable.

The caravan itself was ok. Spacious and quite modern. Good location, easy access.

Very clean and tidy. It’s tucked away in the corner so this was perfect for us having a dog. Also you don’t get people passing every 5 minutes. Very nice and private.
The owners were lovely and have plenty of information about travelling there how to find the van and things to do on the site.

Absolutely stunning caravan with everything you could hope for and more. Ola has gone above and beyond to make sure every detail is throughout and above expectations from cleaning products to an air-frier! It truly is a home away from home. From the beautiful decking to an absolute spotless caravan. Ola is always a text message away and checks in...
